This year, National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (NLPPW) is October 20-26! NLPPW is a call to bring together individuals, organizations, industry, and Tribal, state and local governments to reduce childhood exposure to lead by increasing lead poisoning prevention awareness. NLPPW highlights the many ways parents, caregivers, and communities can reduce children's exposure to lead and prevent its harmful health effects. October is also Children’s Health Month, a time to raise awareness about children’s environmental health, including the dangers and potential health impacts of lead. Each year, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) work together to develop outreach materials to be used by the public to plan, promote and host events and activities during NLPPW. The 2024 theme is "Bright futures begin lead-free” because we all want bright futures for our children and communities. We invite you to join us this NLPPW to raise awareness about lead since every child in every community deserves a bright, lead-free future. We are excited to welcome Rachel B. Jackson to the Foundation for Louisiana as our new Fiscal Sponsorship Program Manager. A Louisiana native with a deep passion for culture and community, Rachel hails from Monroe and brings a wealth of experience in mission-driven nonprofit work. After completing her studies in Communications at LSU and Public Administration at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Rachel dedicated herself to supporting community engagement initiatives and working closely with stakeholders to create positive impact across the state. When Rachel isn’t driving change at FFL, you can find her in a yoga class, enjoying art and live music, or discovering the best local food spots. We are thrilled to have her on board and know her leadership will be key in supporting our growing network of sponsored projects. #HealingAndHope #Louisiana #FoundationForLouisiana #FoundationForThePeople #NewOrleans #BatonRouge #Shreveport #Alexandria #Monroe #LakeCharles

We would like to congratulate FFL Senior Accountant, Mita Shrestha, who earned an AICPA & CIMA Not for Profit Certificate issued by the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. Professionals who earn the Not-for-Profit Certificate I badge apply core concepts in not-for-profit financial reporting, auditing, governance, and tax compliance concepts. Earners recognize U.S. GAAP reporting standards applicable to not-for-profits and identify basic state and federal filing requirements of exempt organizations. These professionals also identify best practices in nonprofit board governance and the planning steps of a nonprofit audit engagement. Great work, Mita!! 🎉

🚨Opportunity Alert 🚨 The Center on Community Philanthropy at the Clinton School of Public Service is thrilled to announce the 2025 Community Philanthropy Advancing Equity Award, celebrating the National Day of Racial Healing. They are now accepting applications from nonprofits, grassroots organizations, for-profits, faith-based groups, and individuals who demonstrate innovative ways to promote equity and inclusion in their communities. The Center is seeking applicants who are working to address inequalities in their communities and advance progress toward inclusion. These solutions should encourage the development of a pro-equity culture within their communities while also making incremental, measurable, and visible progress toward racial equity. The Advancing Equity Award will range from $5,000 – $15,000. For more information on how to apply, please visit https://lnkd.in/eMRjZUjU
