Investing in Breakthrough Research for Mental Illness
About us
OUR MISSION Our mission is to conquer mental illness by investing in groundbreaking scientific research and mental health initiatives. OUR VISION Our vision is simple to state, yet grand in scope—we strive to eliminate suffering from mental illness. Through our partnership with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Department of Psychiatry, the Foundation funds critical research focused on understanding the root causes of, and potential treatments for, mental illness. We are also committed to raising awareness and supporting effective treatment programs. We are resolute in our belief that our mission is as relevant today as it was when Thad and Alice Eure began this journey in 1984. While suicide prevention is important to address year-round, Suicide Prevention Month provides a dedicated time to come together with collective passion and strength to address this difficult topic. The truth is, we can all benefit from honest conversations about mental health conditions and suicide, because just one conversation can change a life. If you or a loved one needs help you can call, chat, or text 988 for 24/7 support. National Suicide Prevention Office #988 #childmentalhealth

Meet Dr. Danielle Roubinov - UNC Psychiatry Assoc. Professor and CHAAMP Scholar - UNC Childhood and Adolescent Anxiety and Mood Disorder Program - Dr. Roubinov previously was with UCSF, where she founded the Childhood Adversity and Resilience Lab. She led basic and translational studies to understand the processes through which early adversity affects children’s mental health and developed interventions that help at-risk children and families develop resilience. “It’s exciting to see the extent that research can change people’s lives. I am deeply committed to transforming the mental health care we provide for children and families in order to reshape trajectories of risk to pathways of resilience.” She believes that all children deserve a lifetime of health, positive development, and achievement, and we’re thrilled to have her as the CHAAMP Scholar. #uncpsychiatry #childhoodmentalhealth

LinkedIn is all about engaging with business leaders in our community. We'd love to hear from you about how/if your company offers mental health resources for you and your family. This is such a critical topic, especially during National Suicide Prevention Month, when we're reminded of the potentially deadly impact of untreated mental health issues. If you or someone you know is considering suicide or needs mental health resources please call, chat, or text 988 for 24/7 support.

We are so excited and grateful for for the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation support of CHAAMP (Children and Adolescent Anxiety and Mood Disorder Program). The Foundation provides grants to children's nonprofits in our community with a health or education focus throughout North Carolina. And our CHAAMP research program, in partnership with UNC Psychiatry is already making a big difference in the lives of kids and teens with anxiety and mood disorders – but it’s about to be able to grow even more! Thank you so much for your support - Let’s Go Canes! #CHAAMP Learn more about

Meet Dr. Anthony Zannas (UNC Psychiatry), one of our Foundation of Hope-funded researchers. Dr. Zannas has been granted $147,167 to explore how chronic psychological stress affects epigenetic regulation and influences dementia pathology in minoritized individuals. Decades of psychological stress endured by minority populations may silently increase dementia risk later in life, yet the biological pathways behind this link are poorly understood. Now, groundbreaking research is delving into these mechanisms at the molecular level. This study could offer vital insights into how epigenetic changes caused by stress and societal challenges increase vulnerability to dementia, aiding tailored prevention and intervention efforts in disproportionately affected underserved communities.
