Updates

  • On Tuesday, November 5, voters in Fridley Public Schools approved both of the questions that appeared on the ballot. This includes an operating referendum of $424 per pupil unit and a $30 million facility bond referendum to address our deferred maintenance needs. While the operating levy will have a property tax impact of $163 per year on a home with an estimated market value of $313,780, the bond referendum will have no estimated tax impact. We are truly grateful for our community's support for these two important ballot measures. We also deeply appreciate the thoughtful questions and valuable feedback we’ve received throughout this process. This outcome will have a real and measurable impact on our students for many years to come. Once again, thank you! #FridleyPride #FridleyStrong

  • A question was recently asked about why, for Question 2, Approval of School District Bond Issue, the ballot question says, "By voting 'Yes' on this ballot question, you are voting for a property tax increase?" Minnesota state law (MS 275.60) requires ballot language to include this statement.  You are voting to issue new debt of $30,000,000, but the school district has other debt that is being paid in full, which will offset the tax impact and keep the tax rate the same. To calculate your tax impact and find more information and answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), visit our referendum website, https://lnkd.in/gVAh3PWE.

  • We are committed to being as transparent as possible regarding the two referendum questions on the November 5 ballot, including their impact on property taxpayers in our community. Question #1 is an operating referendum of $424 per pupil unit. An approved operating levy would have an impact of $163 per year (or $14 per month) on a home with an estimated market value of $313,780, the average home value in Fridley. Question #2 is a $30 million facility bond referendum to address our deferred maintenance needs. It would have NO TAX IMPACT on district residents or businesses. How is that possible? The school district's existing debt is being paid in full, creating an opportunity to issue new debt with no tax impact. Learn more and view answers to FAQs: https://lnkd.in/gVAh3PWE
