The Economic Development Association of Alabama promotes industry and talent retention in the state. Out of hundreds of past and present Fuel Alabama fellows, I was honored to speak at EDAA’s conference this summer following a speech from Governor Kay Ivey. I look forward to seeing the positive impact this organization will continue to have on Alabama.

Happy #NationalInternDay! The Mobile Chamber was honored to have been selected as a host community for the Fuel Alabama summer intern programming. Thank you to the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama and Innovate Alabama for giving us this opportunity to create #professionaldevelopment and #networking opportunities for our Mobile summer interns. A few highlights from FuelAL: Mobile - 102+ interns participated - 30 different employers - 32 different colleges and universities were represented - 17 states + Puerto Rico were represented: Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. - Interns were able to tour the USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park with the Young Professionals of Mobile We enjoyed showing these interns there is More to Mobile and look forward to having them enter our workforce upon graduation! #talentattraction | #moretomobile | #summerinterns

BIRMINGHAM! What an incredible weekend. It took me a whole week to process everything. I am thrilled to have attended Sloss Tech this year. Just to name a few keynote speakers—Andrew Yang, Shingy, Dona Sarkar, and Frances Haugen—were truly inspiring. 🙌 I'm excited to apply the insights I gained on AI and data. This incredible experience was made even better with Prevail Coffee, a fun Barons game and an insightful tour of the Honda Manufacturing plant in Lincoln. 🚗⚾ Not to mention the evenings filled with great food and conversations. Big shout out to all of the entrepreneurs, tech communities, Alabama work force and nonprofits that came together to make this event happen! Tuesday’s FuelAL luncheon at Innovation Depot was a hit! BHM’s summer interns got to hear from the current Rotaract Club of Birmingham President, Thomas Yerby, CPA and President-Elect Alexandria Bowker about how to get plugged into the community as a young professional and learn more about Rotaract. AND the panel was moderated by David A. Russell Jr., MBA, which is always a plus! FuelAL is a program of The Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, in partnership with Innovate Alabama to showcase Alabama’s vibrant communities to current college students. Throughout this summer, Trevor Sutton has led the charge for BHM, creating thoughtful programming and events that highlight the opportunities and community in the region. Community Service Spotlight 🔦 The Montgomery Fuel Alabama Interns showcased their dedication to the community by volunteering at the Heart of Alabama Food Bank. Their hard work led to the packing of over 120 boxes, providing more than 1200 meals for the elderly. Teaming up with the Montgomery County Clerk Interns, who were also volunteering, they continued packing and loading boxes for Alabama residents. This inspiring collaboration caught the attention of Kenny Ward, the Montgomery Chamber's Director of Talent, who invited the Montgomery County Clerk Interns to join the Montgomery FuelAL Interns at the Capital Oyster Bar in downtown Montgomery. In a wonderful gesture of reciprocity, Gina Ishman, Circuit Clerk for Montgomery County, invited the Montgomery FuelAL Interns to observe a live court case. Amazing job, Montgomery Interns! Week 3 Montgomery FuelAL Intern Update! Yesterday our amazing Montgomery FuelAL Interns kicked off the evening with a delicious dinner at Fry and Fork 🍽️. The fun didn't stop there! After dinner, they headed over to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and several of the interns were thrilled to participate in the play, "Zelda in the Backyard" 🎭. The night was filled with laughter, great food, and top-notch entertainment.
