As a member-based business organization, we work to grow markets for our members. Our work is focused in the following areas: •Recruitment and expansion of existing businesses. •Development and nurturing of entrepreneurial and minority businesses. •Tourism and convention development. •Military and federal affairs. We also champion a broad array of community development issues as they relate to our mission, including governmental affairs, education, diversity and leadership development. We have been the driving force for building successful businesses and a vibrant economy since 1873. Governed by a volunteer board of directors and operated by a professional staff, the Chamber works to ensure that businesses have what they need to flourish. The Chamber is the voice of business in governmental affairs, both locally and on a national level, providing products and services to member businesses that help them grow and prosper. The Montgomery Chamber, in partnership with Montgomery Water Works & Sanitary Sewer Board and Kershaw Investment Properties, has secured two SEEDS grant awards totaling $2.2 million! These grants, part of Alabama's Site Evaluation and Economic Development Strategy (SEEDS) program, will fuel the development of two major industrial sites, including a 190-acre site evaluation along I-85 and infrastructure development for the 230-acre CSX Select Gold site near Highway 31. Montgomery was one of only three counties to receive multiple SEEDS grants, which will support the growth of critical industrial areas. This builds on $3.5 billion already invested in advanced manufacturing projects in the region. “These SEEDS grant awards will ensure we are ready for new growth and job opportunities,” said Anna Buckalew, Chamber President & CEO.
