🌍 Is the EU risking its future in the bioeconomy revolution? 🤔 In this summary post, we highlight key findings from a report by the The Breakthrough Institute and the Alliance for Science. The report discusses the economic and environmental costs of the EU's restrictive stance on new genomic techniques (NGTs). With potential losses exceeding €3 trillion in the next decade, the report emphasises the urgent need for regulatory reform to unlock NGT-driven innovations in agriculture, and more. A big thank 👏👏you to all participants! We have received great insights and inspiration for the next steps of the co-creation process of the #NGTs Transition Action Plan. At the same time our partners and stakeholder advisors have confirmed our direction and vision for increasing awareness and for identifying ways for handling misinformation and disinformation.

✨ And that’s a wrap on the 5th GeneBEcon EU project Consortium meeting! ✨ 💭 In today’s sessions we focused on our third Responsible Research & Innovation (#RRI) Workshop, where we discussed the #NGTs Transition Action Plan we’ve been crafting over previous sessions. With short-, medium-, and long-term actions in place, we reflected on how this plan can support and affect different stakeholders—from farmers, breeders and the food industry to consumers, policymakers, and NGOs. With project details finalised, it’s time to wrap up our European tour—for now!
