"On October 7, 2024, #NLRB General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo announced to her staff and the public that she intends to prosecute employers for “Stay-or-Pay” #employmentagreements, agreements that require a new employee to repay outlays for training if the employee leaves within a certain timeframe after being hired. The General Counsel reasons that such provisions are “presumptively unlawful” under #Section7 of the National Labor Relations Act, which protects the rights to unionize or engage in protected concerted activity, because they force employees to remain in jobs they would otherwise leave, or deter an employee from union activity so as not to risk termination and the repayment obligation." #NLRB #NLRA #NowYouKnow #LaborLaw https://lnkd.in/ef-rcaJ5

Ms. Eagan had an informative and interactive discussion with attendees about: • Using AI for making employment decisions,  • Whether to put controls on an employee’s use of #AI for carrying out their work, • New Jersey #antidiscrimination laws of which employers should be aware,  • Employment policies essential for the management of your workforce and critical to minimize legal risk of discrimination claims,  • New Jersey’s push for employers to conduct anti-harassment training of their employees and how that training can be used as a defense if your employee sues,  • New laws on employer requirements when managing pregnant employees, and  • What employers can and cannot requires of employees who use cannabis. Attendees walked away with a heightened awareness of compliance and risk when managing their workforce, knowledge of how other New Jersey employers (of all sizes) handle some of these hot topic issues, and an opportunity for some Monday-morning quarterbacking on their shared experiences!
