We love to see our alum and faculty connecting at events! EM-CQSL Alum, C'24, Chelsea Midtvedt EM-CQSL, BSN, RNC-NIC, and EM-CQSL alum, C'19, & faculty member Mary Herold were at the District of Columbia Hospital Association's Healthcare Care & Innovation Summit presenting their posters. Chelsea's poster was based on her capstone project in the program, which involved creating a warming kit for preterm deliveries to improve the admission temperatures of preterm infants admitted to the NICU. She implemented her project at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Mary and colleagues Abigail Butts & Lauren Lubrano's poster was on preventing venous thromboembolism (VTE) in hospitalized patients by targeting ten areas of focus at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. They saw a 72.4% reduction in the comprehensive VTE rate! #patientsafety #qualityimprovement #humanfactors #mastersprogram #mastersalum #georgetownfaculty #georgetownalum #georgetown #healthcareeducation #healthcare #healthcarequality #qualityandsafety

Kindness is becoming a core strength in leadership, as emotionally intelligent leaders understand its ability to attract talent, inspire teamwork, and foster innovation. By offering compassionate honesty, supporting quieter team members, admitting mistakes, showing personal care, shielding the team from stress, and mentoring others, leaders create a culture of kindness that spreads and strengthens the whole organization. Thank you Amy Gibson for this great visual! #healthcareleadership #healthcareleaders #leadership #patientsafety #qualityimprovement #emotionalintelligence
Kindness is the new strength in leadership. Emotionally intelligent leaders know that kindness: ✅ Attracts the best people ✅ Inspires teams to rally together ✅ Creates space where new ideas flow Here are 6 ways to be a kind (and strong) leader: 1. Be honest, but with compassion: Give direct feedback, but deliver it in a way that helps your team grow. 2. Pay attention to the quiet team members: Make space for their ideas. Offer them chances to shine. 3. Own up when you mess up: Admit your mistakes, share what you’ve learned, and keep it moving. 4. Care about more than just work: Remember the little things like birthdays. It shows you see them as people, not just employees. 5. Be their shield: Protect your team from stress and drama. Take the hit when needed. 6. Help others rise: Mentor people, especially those who don’t always get the spotlight. Here’s the truth: Teams reflect their leaders. When you model kindness, it spreads. What may seem like a small act to you could be remembered by them forever. Be the leader you would want to follow. ♻️ Find this helpful? Repost for your network.
