Are unwanted compounds leaching into your product? A recent GERSTEL extractables and leachables study found butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), an antioxidant added to plastics, in both the plastic bottle and the saline solution from an enema bottle. GERSTEL scientists used Direct Thermal Extraction (DTE) and Sorptive Stirbar Extraction (SBSE) to determine BHT accurately.
