The industry is finally getting started, and we're here for it. 🚀 Since 2016, Healthie has been a vital support for nutritional care, empowering thousands of clinicians. As infrastructure companies scale and mature, so too can digital healthcare delivery companies at unprecedented speed and scale; this is bolstered by an ecosystem that wants this tidal wave of change and innovation to happen. 🌊 The mentality of health tech has shifted considerably in the past 2 years. The floodgates  have opened, ushering in a new, overdue wave of healthcare innovation in care delivery, and as a byproduct, infrastructure companies. Here’s our main takeaways: - Open APIs provide near limitless capabilities to customize and integrate all aspects of your tech stack, without the cost of thousands of hours of development. - The setup of a modern, API-first infrastructure solution like @Healthie means Next Gen Healthcare companies no longer need to adapt their company to a vendor’s solution. - Rather companies have the ability to choose an infrastructure partner that can be built on top of – unlocking the potential for limitless customization and innovation. Next Gen Infrastructure companies will accelerate the pace of innovation and push the envelope forward on what healthcare experiences will look like for consumers, and force the system overall to re-think care delivery and care outcomes with the end patient in mind. This is exactly what our industry needs! We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again – Next Gen Healthcare companies should rarely exclusively build in house. Find the infrastructure that will work for you, so you can focus on building the differentiating parts of your technology, which is clinical care. Erica Jain, Co-Founder & CEO of Healthie, advises, “When we talk about this notion of API-first, it really enables this concept of headless EHR, and building your own member experience to extend the capabilities and focus on that business differentiation.” API-first companies like Healthie empower companies to focus on building toward an innovative, effective care paradigm without having to reinvent the wheel 🎡 See how Healthie supports the of Next-Gen Healthcare:  https://lnkd.in/ez27xaf3

Traditional EHRs were designed for one-time, episodic, in-person only, physician only care. Organizations that use Healthie seek to build longitudinal, virtual-first, and collaborative care relationships with their patients, which drives lasting patient outcomes. Accordingly, in healthcare, not all EHRs are the same, and we believe that it’s important to pick an EHR that aligns with your philosophy of care, and allows you to extend the capabilities of what you’d like to offer. EHRs can help companies with the following: 📋 Charting and Intake: The ability to chart, send out intake forms, and tie charting to important capabilities like billing and reporting; some customers that use Healthie appreciate the ability to customize the UI 📅 Scheduling: Provider utilization planning, scheduling widgets for patients to book , tie-ins to matchmaking between providers and patients are crucial for an organization to be able to customize - handling timezone back-end logic isn’t! 🙋 Engagement: Organizations need the ability to customize the engagement experience as well as the modality of that experience. 🔗 Workflow Tooling Automation: Companies need the ability to customize clinician workflows, tasks, and the overall connectivity of their systems; but, they don’t need to build the underlying pipes for this. 🌱 Interoperability: Companies need the capability to do so, but don’t need to build direct integrations to CommonWell/CareQuality, etc. We recently sat down with a panel of experts in startups, and no surprise, there was heavy discussion on tech stack strategies – including when to take a build versus partner (aka buy) approach. The panelists from Emma Sugerman, Co-founder and COO Mavida Health, Jake Powell, Senior Director of Provider Partnerships Two Chairs, and Brittanie Kraft, VP of Operations Kaia Health reflected how much a company’s chosen vendors and solutions can support or hinder such growth. Here’s the highlights: 1️⃣ Flexible tech solutions are essential for adapting as your business evolves. 2️⃣ Choosing the right vendors and tools can support or hinder your growth. 3️⃣ Tracking vendor roadmaps and ensuring alignment with your long-term goals is crucial. Jake Powell Senior Director of Provider Partnerships at Two Chairs shared that “one of our first mistakes we’ve had in the past is that we underestimated the importance of flexibility.” He continued on that, “the reaction time and willingness to partner from the EMR side can not only stop innovation, but the day-to-day blocking and tackling can’t be handled.” Our advice? When building your modern tech stack, think ahead and ensure your tech stack will pivot and grow with your company. Healthie works with hundreds of Next-Gen Healthcare companies, of all sizes, pre-seed to Post IPO. As companies scale, the investments in security, optimizations for speed as well as stability, become increasingly complex and important to get right – and that all starts with choosing their tech stack partners with care. Choosing an EHR? That's the easy part. The real work is in implementing an EHR correctly, organizing all of your internal stakeholders across product, dev, and clinical, and ensuring that providers can use the EHR effectively. Another important nugget: EHR implementation is one part of the equation. We’ve been working with some of our customers for years, and continuing to roll out new capabilities and optimizations is a normal and natural part of software, as your business evolves too. Brittanie Kraft, Director of Operations at Kaia Health thought about this extensively when selecting vendors, and how thinking long-term ultimately played into Kaia’s decision to choose Healthie.   Specifically:  1️⃣ Don’t underestimate the importance of flexibility in a tech partner; choose someone who is poised to scale alongside you. 2️⃣ Open APIs, like those from Healthie, enable limitless customization and integration, making implementation smoother and more impactful. 3️⃣ Consider the reaction time and willingness to partner from the EMR side; this will facilitate the day-to-day support needed particularly during implementation, but also the long-term collaboration needed to drive true innovation. One more tip from Brittanie, “Looking at the vendor roadmap is huge – where does it align? You can even have the same type of values as a company, but if you see that they’re actually heading in a different direction than where you are, then maybe that’s a good sign to reevaluate your tooling and the vendors that you’re using.” We say this at Healthie all the time, and share it with the companies we speak with - find the infrastructure that will work for you, so you can focus on building the differentiating parts of your technology, and finding a sustainable, scalable pathway to growth.
