About us

GiANT is a global media and content development company specializing in leader transformation. Working in over 100 countries, our vision is to unlock the potential of people. We're here to take your leaders to higher levels. Our vision (or "heroic goal" as we like to call it) is to raise up liberating leaders in every major city and every major sector of the world. To do this, we focus on 1) Increasing the number of secure leaders inside an organization 2) Raising the leadership capacity of those leaders, and 3) Accelerating the growth of the leadership culture of these organizations. At the heart of everything we do is apprenticeship. It's the secret sauce. For us, apprenticeship is all about intentional, long-term calibration of high support and high challenge, all within a small group environment. It is here where master craftsmen multiply their skills and expertise into the lives of those they are apprenticing. Rather than being an academic exercise, everything is applied learning. From day one, leaders use visual tools as a means of addressing the leadership challenges they are currently wrestling with.

Every time we meet with teams about the 5 Voices, we make sure to review the 5 Assumptions. These are assumptions that we want teams to remember through the training and through the 5 Voices Certification. Let’s work through these assumptions to see how they might impact your understanding of the 5 Voices framework. 1) Our “Voice” is made up of all 5 Voices Even though your Foundational Voice is the one that stands out, the other Voices color it. Which Voices color your Foundational Voice depends on a lot of different factors. For more on that, see point 4. 2) Some Voices are more natural to us than others Of course, even though all 5 Voices are included in your unique Voice, some of those Voices are more natural to you. While that doesn’t mean you can’t use the Voices that feel unnatural, it does mean that you aren’t as comfortable doing so. 3) Maturity allows us to value the contribution each Voice brings As we mature, we’re better able to appreciate each Voice for what it brings to the team. Often, we end up discounting those Voices we find difficult to use or understand. But when we consider the entire team, we realize that the team needs each of the 5 Voices regardless of how we personally feel about them. 4) Nature, nurture, and choice have all played a part Nature, nurture, and choice have all contributed to your unique Voice. Your nature is who you are at the core, your personality, (which you can uncover by taking the 5 Voices Assessment). Nurture is your environment or circumstances. And choices are the decisions you make every day as nature and nurture tug you in different directions. 5) Don’t assume you know what someone else’s Foundational Voice is Someone may exude certain personality traits, but that doesn’t automatically mean they’re a certain voice. Always take time to understand someone’s innate wiring. Don’t assume you know what each word means. As you take the assessment and begin discussing the 5 Voices with your team, listen carefully to the certified speaker as they describe the Voices framework. We aim to be specific in how we use our terms, so it’s vital you understand exactly what we mean when we say something like Nurturers are the quietest Voice. It may not mean what you think at first. These assumptions are the foundation on which the GiANT trainings are built. Once you understand this foundation, you’re ready to get started revolutionizing your team’s communication. So, you’ve taken the 5 Voices assessment and know your foundational voice. Now what do you do with the other Voices? Do they matter beyond simply helping you communicate with others? Let’s talk about rating your voice. As you go through our certification process or the training program with your organization, you’ll hear all about the different Voices. Likely, even after you know your own Voice, there will be aspects of the other Voices that resonate with you. This is because your Voice is actually made up of all 5 voices. So if your foundational voice is primarily the Pioneer, you might still feel like you have a lot in common with the Guardian or the Creative. We’ve developed a vocabulary to use to communicate how much you think you align with a certain Voice. We call this rating your voice, and we break it into three categories: green, yellow, and red. Green - Rating a Voice green means you see it as your Foundational Voice. This Voice is your default pattern of communication and thinking and it heavily aligns with who you believe you are. When you’re feeling comfortable and communicating naturally, this is likely the Voice you’re relying on. This is also probably the Voice that comes out when you’re not paying attention to how you’re communicating. Yellow - Rating a Voice yellow says that you recognize this Voice is not Foundational, but there might be some undertones of a Yellow-rated voice in your natural communication. You value this voice and find it easy to access it in your own communication. Red - Finally, rating a Voice red means this voice doesn’t sound like who you are at your core and is far from your Foundational Voice. But in this case, you find it hard to understand and even value this voice, and you find it hard to access this Voice in your own communication. So why rate the Voices? Well, first, it helps you know yourself better. You can see how certain voices are stronger in your communication than others. That knowledge can then help you adjust your natural communication style depending on who you’re talking to, which can make for better communication overall. Second, you can begin to see how your stronger Voices interact with each other. You might notice that in calm environments your Foundational Voice is most natural but then in stressful circumstances a different Voice tends to show itself in your communication. You can then begin to use that knowledge to your advantage, adjusting your communication to better suit your circumstances. The next time you’re reviewing the Voices or going over them with your team, think about rating them. Rating the Voices can help you take a big step forward in understanding how each of them contributes to your unique Voice. Ready to uncover your Leadership Voice?
