Giant Food proudly sponsored and volunteered at multiple back to school community events alongside the Washington Wizards, Coca-Cola Consolidated, and the Greater Washington Urban League. Our dedicated team participated in various activities, including stuffing 500 snack packs with non-perishable food for the Latin American Youth Center in Washington, D.C. at the Coca-Cola Consolidated warehouse. We also contributed to the Wizards' Back to School Tip-Off event where our Healthy Living Team provided resources for healthy eating, alongside gift cards to 100 teachers and healthy snacks for event attendees. Lastly, we sponsored the Greater Washington Urban League’s Back to School Festival where a member of our Pharmacy team provided vaccinations to the community, one of our nutritionists distributed healthy snacks and resources, and our Thrive Business Resource Group for People of Color gave out over 1,000 backpacks to students! We are grateful to work with these organizations to support local youth and educators as they begin the 2024-2025 school year! #BacktoSchool #GrowCareBelong

As the summer comes to a close, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible work of our seven summer 2024 interns who successfully presented their final projects to our leadership team and completed our 10-week internship program. Their dedication and passion have left a lasting impact on our organization and the community. Throughout the summer, our interns immersed themselves in various projects, from organizing beach cleanups to hosting a successful car wash to support the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay. Their collaborative effort with the Alliance and the Annapolis Blues FC, raised over $3000 to support the Alliance's noble cause of keeping the Chesapeake Bay and Watershed clean. We are proud to have had the opportunity to work with such a talented group of individuals: - Haleemat Adenuga (DEI and Talent Acquisition Intern) - Supreme Bista (Merchandising Analyst Intern) - Molly Grafton (Loyalty Strategy Intern) - Madison Johnson (Copywriter Intern) - Parker Nickels (eCommerce Intern) - Tom (Hai Minh) Nguyen (Merchandising Analyst Intern) - Maeve Smarick (External Communications Intern) To show our appreciation and bid them farewell, our Young Professionals Business Resource Group and Corporate Council Business Resource Group organized a special happy hour send-off celebration with mocktails and sushi, to celebrate their experiences. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each intern for their hard work, dedication, and positive impact during their time with us. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors and hope to see them thrive in their respective careers! #InternshipProgram #FutureLeaders

We are extremely proud to announce the success of our recent Blood Drive event at our Corporate Office! Our Corporate Council, a Business Resource Group (BRG) focused on fostering relationships between leadership and the rest of the organization, partnered with the American Red Cross to organize a tremendous effort to give back to the community and support local hospitals with vital blood donations. With the generous contributions of our donors, volunteers, and supporters, we were able to collect 18 units of blood, potentially impacting over 50 lives — what an incredible achievement!     This accomplishment truly reflects the spirit of generosity and community at Giant Food, and we couldn't be prouder of our Corporate Council BRG for making this event such a success. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated and supported this initiative. It's inspiring to see the positive impact we can have when we come together as Better Neighbors.     Stay tuned for more updates on our future initiatives, as we continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Together, we are committed to building a stronger, healthier community.  #CommunityImpact

We are excited to share that Giant Food celebrated the grand reopening of our remodeled store in Springfield, Virginia today! Our enhanced location at 7501 Huntsman Blvd offers a full-service pharmacy, expanded amenities, and a modernized layout to provide our customers with an exceptional and convenient shopping experience.  During the ribbon cutting, we were excited to thank three of our amazing associates for their hard work and dedication during the remodeling process. We are very proud to have Seafood Manager Waqas Ahmad, Grocery Manager Gerald Eleccion, and Deli Manager Hieu Dang as integral parts of our Giant Food family.     We are also excited to continue the momentum of our in-store fundraising campaign in support of pediatric cancer research. Customers can show their support by rounding up their purchases at the register or by purchasing a $5 coupon book, and 100% of the funds raised will be directly contributed to Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center and the Children's Cancer Foundation. Giant Food has raised over $32 million to support pediatric cancer research since 2005, and we’re not stopping there.    This grand reopening reflects our continued dedication to serving our communities and neighbors with quality service and modern conveniences. We can't wait to see you there! #GrandReopening

Giant Food is thrilled to share that the Baltimore Orioles, in collaboration with the Maryland Food Bank, recently hosted their 37th annual Orioles Food & Funds Drive at Oriole Park at Camden Yards during the weekend series against the New York Yankees from July 12-14. Throughout the weekend, representatives from the Orioles, AAA, Giant Food, and the Maryland Food Bank were stationed at multiple entrances of the ballpark, collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations from fans and raised a total of $12,782.47 for the Maryland Food Bank!    Giant Food remains dedicated to fighting hunger in Maryland by generously matching this donation by contributing an additional $25,000 to the cause! A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and to the organizations involved for their unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
