Loads of valuable insights in our latest GivingPulse report, covering giving trends in Q4 of 2024 specifically as well as the full year. One important takeaway that keeps coming up in this work:
Too many people in the US are not being invited to give! ("Being solicited" in unappealing social sector parlance.) The report contains this jaw-droopingly obvious line: "people are more likely to support causes, organizations, and people when they are asked." Well, yes.
We believe there are tens of billions being left on the table because of this one thing (and it takes opportunity away from givers as well as nonprofits. Unsurprisingly, asks went up in Q4, but there is nothing cosmically special about the expression of generosity in the last three months of the year--we should be engaging givers and potential givers year-round.
There are generous people every day, everywhere. They're there, they care. Invite them in. And not just to give money, but to walk arm in arm with you to meet your mission.
