Officials, community members, and teaming partners gathered to cut the ribbon on the brand-new Nottingham Middle School, officially celebrating the opening of the first new middle school in eastern Baltimore County since 1970. The $116 million facility, which welcomed students this August, was designed to serve the fast-growing communities of northeast Baltimore County. With a capacity of 1,410 students, the school features nine pods in the school’s academic wing, each containing standard classrooms, extended learning areas, and collaborative learning spaces. Nottingham proudly meets LEED silver standards for environmental sustainability and includes supporting infrastructure such as athletic facilities, ample parking, and other amenities. Chesterfield County and Chesterfield County Public Schools hosted an inspiring groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction on the new Bensley Elementary School. The school is replacing the 70-year-old building with a larger, modern structure, relieving current enrollment pressure and supporting future growth. The building will accommodate up to 1,000 students, significantly improving the old school’s capacity of 575 students. Bensley is the second school to be built with Chesterfield’s new two-story elementary school prototype design. Moseley Architects is overwhelmed with gratitude, knowing that despite the difficulties and losses caused by Hurricane Helene, all our colleagues are safe. We send love and support to everyone working to rebuild and heal. Over the coming weeks and months, each community will face different struggles, contending with the aftermath of devastation. We are thankful for the families, friends, neighbors, and emergency personnel who are offering their assistance. The American Red Cross is working with local partners to provide financial aid, blood donations, shelter, meals, and emotional support. They welcome any assistance, whether through volunteering or donations. For more information, visit redcross.org.
Our hearts are with everyone impacted by Hurricane Helene. ❤️ It will take days to understand the full scope and magnitude of the storm, but here are three things you can do right now to help people affected: • Make a financial donation to ensure people receive the help they need and don’t face this difficult time alone. • Schedule an appointment to donate blood and ensure lifesaving blood is available for hospital patients in need. • Sign up to volunteer with us so that you can help people affected by disasters like Helene. Your support will make all the difference in people’s recovery. #Helene
