Developing Just & Green Logistics Policies Without Leaving SMEs Behind

About us

GLEAM NSR is an Interreg project co-funded by the North Sea Region Programme composed of a consortium of 11 members led by the University of Groningen. Public authorities have been experimenting with solutions to decarbonize logistics and transportation for years, but implementation has remained isolated and small scale. Historically there has been a lack of clear frameworks for widespread adoption and implementation and the needs of SMEs have been neglected when developing large-scale projects and policies. The Green logistics for a just net zero carbon economy in the North Sea Region project aims to collectively facilitate the development and implementation of ambitious policies and governance frameworks to support sustainable and just urban logistics in cities. Through multi-level and multi-sector collaboration, the project will ensure that both larger enterprises and SMEs are equipped to thrive in this new environment. Over this 3.5 year project, the GLEAM NSR consortium will collaborate intensively to share best practices, enhance existing strategies, and scale-up local initiatives, especially regarding the development of digital platforms. Our main objective is to ensure that local authorities comprehensively grasp the needs of SMEs and craft climate-neutral transportation policies that are both impactful and widely embraced.
