The Global Methane Initiative (GMI) is an international public-private partnership focused on reducing barriers to the recovery and use of methane as a clean energy source. GMI provides technical support to deploy methane-to-energy projects around the world that enable Partner Countries to launch methane recovery and use projects. Through these efforts, GMI is: - Decreasing greenhouse gas emissions - Improving air and water quality - Improving human health - Enhancing energy security - Increasing worker safety - Expanding economic growth GMI advances methane mitigation in three key sectors: Oil and Gas, Biogas, and Coal Mines.

GMI, with the support of US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has released the Solid Waste Emissions Estimation Tool (SWEET) Data Collection Worksheet. This free printable companion resource assists city decision-makers and solid waste professionals in collecting data for use in the Solid Waste Emissions Estimation Tool (SWEET). In Jalisco, Mexico, the state’s Ministry of Environment and Land Development - Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Desarrollo Territorial (SEMADET) - and Clean Air Task Force are using the SWEET Data Collection Worksheet to evaluate potential methane mitigation options in organic waste management or landfill gas capture. These inputs are the basis for calculating their methane emissions in the SWEET tool. Download the worksheet: https://loom.ly/VfOssQo
GMI Strategic Partner @GlobalMethaneHub conducted a global methane opinion poll in 17 countries, revealing that 82% of people who responded support methane mitigation. To view the full results, visit: https://loom.ly/i3YA6Lk #Methane
