Earlier this month, Team Globetrotters hit the tarmac at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport to participate in the annual Plane Pull, a fundraiser hosted by United Airlines to support Special Olympics Illinois. Our team competed with others for the title of Fastest and Strongest by pulling a 95,000-pound, 737 aircraft a distance of 12 feet in the shortest amount of time. While we didn't take home the top trophy, our team put our muscle into the task and got to the finish line. We also exceeded our fundraising goal for the Special Olympics—and we all went home as winners! What a fun, busy season it's been at Globetrotters! Looking back at some highlights of the Summer of 2024: * we welcomed our latest cohort of interns, incoming seniors from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign School of Engineering * we honored Globetrotters' 50th anniversary with street banners in downtown Chicago during the month of July * our employees volunteered at the Cradle to Crayons annual Backpack-A-Thon at the Wintrust Arena, where our team helped to stuff 30,000 new backpacks with back-to-school supplies for kids in need *we celebrated with a summer party at Globetrotters' headquarters featuring our favorite sliders and subs from Whatever Lola Wants caterers *we gathered with our team working on the City of Chicago's smart lighting program for a deep-dish pizza lunch at the iconic Connie's Pizza *and, we were honored to be recognized as one of the Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in Chicago! We're grateful to the National Association for Business Resources/The Best and Brightest Programs for selecting us for this award, which identifies and celebrates companies that deliver exceptional employment practices and demonstrate an impressive commitment to their employees. And for the City of Chicago, too, Summer 2024 was one for the history books.
