Sometimes, the easy part is figuring out who will be your on-screen talent for a video. Then comes the hard part … setting them up for success! Restating the goals and getting the buy-in is a huge step. But I’ll go as far as figuring out the script, reviewing their schedule, and supporting the recording.

🛑 If I haven’t convinced you to consider live-streaming as part of your digital strategy yet, stop reading 🙅♀️ ✋🏼 and go watch our last TL;DR mini episode. 🛑   ✅ Ok, you’re back and ready to take the live-streaming leap — watch below for a few simple, but critical strategies to successfully prepare for your first livestream ✅ First thing’s first — work with your content team to set some goals and measures of success that will guide your team in putting together a show: 👉🏼 Is audience engagement important for you? Consider a live Q&A! 👉🏼 Or peak live views? You'll want to put all your effort into promotion. 👉🏼 Are MQLs your jam? Then off-the-charts live views is less important than making sure the right eyeballs are tuning in 👀 ⏳ Once you have these answers, schedule your event in advance, giving yourself plenty of time to promote the heck out of it. At least 2-3 weeks minimum! ⏳ 🎥🎙 During this timeframe, refine the program’s content, tech check each speaker’s camera/audio equipment, and consider equipment upgrades to really up-level the quality of the stream. 🎥🎙 📢 And of course, stay close to marketing to make sure you’re getting the word out and building that excitement 📢 Tune in to our next episode, where we’re diving into a few of my favorite promotional tactics to grow your audience for your event. 📈 #videocreation #videocontent #tldr #socialive #livestream

Delivering Exceptional Technical Support Solutions with Expertise and Empathy | Enabling Seamless IT Operations and Customer Satisfaction

With college football season coming up (go Eagles, Boiler Up!), I thought I might talk a bit about how my college football roots have helped me in my tech support role at Socialive. Customers who need a hand are just like coaches — passionate, eager, and expect you to bring solutions. The job certainly keeps me on my toes! I think that product knowledge, solid documentation, and a heaping helping of compassion all go a long way to solving the problems that pop up. For anyone else in support, did I miss anything?

Getting everyone on the same page early in a project is always challenging. And video projects are no different — especially when you need to convince someone to go on camera. It’s all about showing impact. If you can show the individual the project's value and why their voice is needed, it’s much easier to get them to buy in. I include significant business and team benefits in the overview doc, but it always helps to personalize things for your SMEs!

We're all on the same page that video is great for HR, PeopleOps, and comms. So now how do we create the right content? Think like a marketer and "sell" your message! My experience on the marketing side of the house has helped me plan my content. But you don't need to be a seasoned marketer to think like one. Consider your audience: who is this video for? Current employees or prospects? Consider the takeaways: what do you want them to know? Consider the impact: what is the goal? Awareness of a new internal process? To attract new prospects? Of course, that's only half the battle! You also have to make sure that your messenger is the right person, and you have to make them feel comfortable in delivering the message. But if you think through all of these things and get your speaker on the same page, it will make it that much easier for you to knock out that video!

The cameras on the latest and greatest phones give you excellent quality — up to 4k! But as a producer, you don't want to just leave it up to your talent to record a few takes and send the clips your way. Nothing's worse than getting a recording, the lighting is wrong, or your speaker didn't catch the wildly distracting thing in the background. You know, things you can't just "fix in post." Socialive's Green Room lets you direct your presenter from behind the scenes and coach them into the perfect take. Rather than waiting back and hoping they captured the perfect moment, you can give them some guidance and real-time feedback. Just create a recording session, invite your speaker, and after you've ensured everything looks and sounds good, you can hit record for them. Plus, it's instantly uploaded to your recording library, nothing is saved on their device!
