  • “This is a great hospital to come to if you need any type of assistance. It’s good to come back and see them and smile. To let them know that because of you, I’m here.” – Chris, Trauma Survivor Today, Chris, his wife and friends returned to Grand Strand Medical Center to celebrate his journey of recovery with a Victory Lap around the hospital. In June 2023, Chris was involved in a near-fatal motorcycle crash where he sustained multiple rib fractures, tibia/fibula fracture, right femur fracture, base skull fracture and hand fractures. Chris spent a total of 96 days in the hospital recovering from his injuries. He wasn’t expected to walk again for two years, but he is able to walk short distances just a little over a year with a cane. During the victory lap, Chris spent time reuniting with colleagues throughout the hospital who were part of his care team. He was also presented with our hospital's challenge coin which represents the strength and courage he exemplified during his journey to trauma survivorship and challenge himself to go out into the world to make a positive impact in the lives of others. Thank you to our media partners at WMBF News and WPDE ABC15 News for sharing Chris’ story with our community! 💙🧡

  • This week, Grand Strand Health's executive team embraced the "Walk in Your World" initiative, stepping into the roles of our dedicated colleagues for a day. This initiative was designed to give our leaders firsthand experience of a day in the life of various hospital team members. They shadowed staff across multiple departments, including Neuroscience ICU, 3 East, 2 East, 2 North, Pharmacy, Patient Transport, Laboratory, Respiratory, Facilities Management, Acute Therapy, and Central Sterile Services. Through this experience, they gained valuable insights into each role, listened to colleague experiences, and identified opportunities for improvement. Thank you all for your unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care to every patient who walks through our doors! #WeShowUp #CareLikeFamily
