Our CASA program had the incredible opportunity to participate in this year’s parade at the Midlothian Village Day Festival! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on the parade route and at the festival, and to our dedicated advocates who work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of these children. Children in the child welfare system are more likely to have special education needs, but they may not always receive appropriate services. CASA/GAL volunteers can assist with connecting families to resources such as classroom essentials, backpacks and weekend food programs, so children and youth feel prepared for the school year ahead. I have been a CASA in the City of Richmond program for the last almost 2 years and I can attest that this advocacy work for children in the court system is SO important and so necessary!!
