Today, I'm releasing a thought piece on Why Nature Matters to Real Assets Investors: https://lnkd.in/eYG8YXCm This piece explores how the global degradation of the highly valuable infrastructure asset that is nature creates both risks and opportunities for investors. Unfortunately, human behavior and the scale of our activities around the world is making intact ecosystems more scarce, and thus jeopardizing the value of assets that have benefited from the free ecosystem services nature has been quietly providing assets and economies all along. For those investors hopeful that climate change was the only category of environmental risk and opportunity you needed to think about, turns out you need to think about nature too. In finance, we’re always thinking of more than one thing.  It’s not like we just think about revenue. We think about operating costs and capex too. Just as those line items are all related and yet each important, so too with climate and nature. Both matter.  Because of the scale at which we invest and the physical way in which we invest, real assets investors are perhaps uniquely positioned to grasp why nature is important and to profitably do something about the related risks and opportunities. The thing about real assets investors, the tribe of us who like to invest in long-lived, capital intensive and ever so critical assets, is that we think big and we think long-term. Because we manage assets that aren’t slips of paper or digits, but rather real places in the physical world, we have the power, the responsibility and the opportunity to invest in and manage assets that can be part of the restoration of the living world. Further, we have the obligation to our clients to understand the growing risks to our assets from nature’s degradation. 🚀 New Truck Yard Technology Platform 🚀 Today we’re announcing the rollout of our new technology platform designed to improve truck yard visibility and security. The platform enables fleets of all sizes to book long-term, monthly, and daily reservations at Outpost yards and get unprecedented visibility into their assets’ location and condition. Parking and positioning assets has traditionally been an inefficient and frustrating part of fleet operations. Finding yards requires research, calls, and emails to determine availability and rates. Choosing a yard is often a leap of faith, trusting in the operator’s claims of security and quality rather than verifiable information. Access control differs from yard to yard, creating check-in headaches and increasing turn times. Different billing and overage policies require a time-consuming patchwork of yard relationships. And without visibility into yard operations, fleets lack critical information about their assets' location and condition. Our platform addresses these challenges directly. It combines proprietary hardware, computer vision AI, video streaming, and analytics, enabling fleet managers, operations teams, and truck drivers to: 🚚 Book and manage parking reservations at Outpost yards with real-time inventory and consistent invoicing.  🔒 Improve equipment security with personalized access control and AI-based intrusion detection. 👀 Monitor equipment through our secure online portal with video feeds of entries and exits, and AI-based vehicle and damage identification. With today’s announcement, we’re accelerating deployment of the platform at our yards with plans to be live at all properties by the end of summer.
