Thank you to City of Greenville, NC Government City Council for approving several Economic Development Grants to assist expanding industries in Greenville-Pitt County!
Greenville City Council Approves Economic Development Grants While the weather was dismal in Greenville Thursday night, the future was bright for economic development in the Greenville-Pitt County area after the Greenville City Council approved four grants during its regular meeting. During its regular meeting, the Council unanimously voted to provide two job creation grants, supply a local match for a State-funded Building Reuse Grant, and serve as the pass-through for another State-funded grant. The actions will help bring new manufacturers to the area and expand existing ones with beneficiaries including Attindas Healthcare Products, UNX-Christeyns, Nipro Medical Corporation, and Greenville Utilities Commission. Nipro is an active manufacturing corporation expanding its operations with a new facility in Greenville. The Council approved a Job Creation Grant for Nipro for up to $500,000 over five years. Qualified jobs will be based on jobs created beginning September 1, 2026. A second job creation grant was provided to Attindas, a local manufacturer of absorbent hygiene products. The $50,000 grant over two years will be based on jobs created on or after September 1, 2024. In June, the State of North Carolina awarded UNX-Christeyns a Building Reuse Grant of $80,000. UNX-Christeyns is a local manufacturer of commercial-quality cleaning chemicals and dispensing equipment. The grant includes a 5 percent local match of $4,000 to be provided by the City. The State also awarded a $2 million grant from the Industrial Development Fund to the City of Greenville to serve as the pass-through and pay the Greenville Utilities Commission for a new electric substation to support the expansion of Boviet Solar Technology. The grant requires a 5 percent local match to be funded by the City. Boviet Solar is a solar manufacturing facility that will bring more than 900 jobs to Pitt County.
