About us
Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital believes in the power of every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ to change the world. We offer every girl the opportunity to discover who she is, what she can do, and connect her with a powerful community of girls and mentors to make it happen. With unique programs Girl Scouts explore, learn, succeed and take action to make a difference in their community. With support from dedicated adult volunteers, parents and staff, we deliver the best Girl Scout experience to 86,810 members: 59,425 girls and 27,385 adults in the Greater Washington Region. Girl Scouts opens a world of opportunities for girls to learn new skills, discover the world, explore science, volunteer, go camping and more. As the largest girl-serving organization, our main focus is on leadership development for girls. Girl Scouting has helped girls develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed. From our earliest badges in electricity, aeronautics, and natural sciences to today’s cookie entrepreneurs and MAKERS, girls challenge themselves, work with inspiring role models, and develop lifelong friendships. We’re preparing the next generation of girls for their futures, ensuring doors are open to them, and that they possess the confidence to walk through those doors.

From Girl Scout Entrepreneur to CEO, Ana Isabel Martinez Chamorro, Girl Scout Nation’s Capital Women's Advisory Board member shares her story this Hispanic Heritage Month! As an immigrant who came to the U.S. at the age of eight, Ana's heritage has been a cornerstone of her identity and values. "Being a Spanish speaker first and having worked really hard to be in the U.S. and on the path to citizenship, made me more independent and focused on earning my achievements." The Girl Scouts' emphasis on earning badges through hard work mirrored her personal journey, teaching her resilience and the importance of showcasing her heritage through events like World Thinking Day—an International Day of Friendship where girls celebrate global sisterhood and explore issues affecting girls worldwide.
