***Industry Service Announcement*** Check on your Northrop Grumman friends! In what "seems to be" a recent trend in the space industry, per a recent WARN notice, NG employees will be the next to feel the effects of a mass layoff :( While NG hasn't detailed the reason for the impending mass layoff, Bloomberg reported 2 weeks ago that Space Force cancelled a classified satellite project they had with NG. As a result, the cancellation of that project is expected to cut NG's space portfolio by $2 billion. Yikes! Even though the space industry may be cyclical, again, check on your NG friends. https://lnkd.in/gvm8cBqT

GSITA is a non-governmental organization founded to become a 501(c)(6) trade association headquartered in the US to represent the global space industry. We recognize the need to create local and regional chapters for membership activities; with international chapters to follow. Reach out to our Directors Charlton Shackleton, Nick Orenstein, Mclee Kerolle, Esq., Columbia Mishra, Ph.D., or Enzo Bleze for more information and to join as a corporate or individual member. We are all committed to Community Engagement: All corporate members of GSITA will foster a community of space industry professionals that actively engages and supports underrepresented communities. Members will contribute to the initiatives, programs, and activities that connect them with job-seekers from these underrepresented communities.

GSITA’s mission is to provide underrepresented communities access to workforce development in the space industry by: * Creating a bridge between our member organizations and job-seekers from underrepresented communities, * Establishing shared resources amongst member organizations that creates and maintains best practices & standards towards workforce development, * Creating a community of space industry professionals which fosters engagement amongst underrepresented communities, and * Advocating for policy reform in issues affecting the space industry’s labor market. Additionally, GSITA advocates for ITAR reform to reduce barriers to global collaboration in space exploration and development. Through collaboration and advocacy, GSITA aims to create a strong and competitive labor force for America’s space industry that captures our vision that space truly is for everyone. Moreover, GSITA as part of its mission to advance, advocate, and protect space workers will operate and maintain an active clearinghouse of information and resources offered by members and relevant government leadership. In the event of an emergency or search and rescue operation involving civilians in space, GSITA will utilize this clearinghouse and aid in the coordination of these efforts pursuant to, but not precluding, the United Nations’ Rescue Agreement of 1967.
