Last week, our firm filed a petition for certiorari in the U.S. Supreme Court in Louis v. Bluegreen. For hundreds of years, people subject to void contracts have been able to go to court to challenge the contract and get their money back. That’s particularly important for military service members, whom the Defense Department has found are often specifically targeted by predatory lenders. We're asking the Supreme Court to grant review so that when a company like Bluegreen targets someone like our client Private Louis with an illegal contract, they can at least get into court to fight it. https://lnkd.in/gewweMB4 

Our firm recently won a victory against forced arbitration in the New Mexico Supreme Court in Sanchez v. United Debt Counselors LLC. Firm Principal Jennifer Bennett shared, “This decision makes it harder for companies that harm New Mexicans to enforce unconscionable arbitration clauses. That's a victory for consumers and workers across the state of New Mexico, who just want to be able to have their day in court."

We're representing shareholders in a securities fraud case against Nvidia in the Supreme Court. Our side got a big boost this week, with amicus briefs filed by the U.S. Solicitor General; a bipartisan group of former SEC officials; civil procedure scholars; institutional investors; data experts; and the American Association for Justice, among others. Oral arguments in the case are set for Nov. 13, 2024.

Gupta Wessler is challenging an Uber-backed proposed ballot measure, which seeks to cap attorneys' contingency fees, at the Nevada Supreme Court. Deepak Gupta recently participated in an interview with Legal Dive, where he discussed Uber’s motives for the extreme move amid the mounting sexual assault lawsuits the company is facing from riders. Yesterday, we filed our brief in the U.S. Supreme Court in a case alleging that Nvidia and its CEO Jensen Huang committed securities fraud by concealing Nvidia’s risky sales of its computer chips to cryptocurrency miners. Deepak Gupta will argue the case on November 13 against Nvidia’s lawyer, Neal Katyal. Yesterday, we filed our brief in the U.S. Supreme Court in Stanley v. City of Sanford. We argue that our client, a retired firefighter, shouldn't be denied the right to sue over disability discrimination under the Americans with Disabilities Act just because she's a former employee.
