Black August reminds us that justice requires full transparency. No more secrets—public access to court records is essential. The Access to Justice Project at Public Justice is leading the effort to unseal court records at FCI Dublin, a federal prison where women were subjected to systemic sexual abuse. “The First Amendment protects the right of public access to court records and judicial proceedings,” said Jackie Aranda Osorno, senior attorney at Public Justice. “This right is a fundamental check on what the government does in our name and serves to ensure public confidence in our legal system.”
