Hadassah National President Carol Ann Schwartz met today with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and First Lady Michal Herzog at the tail end of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations (CoP) 10/7 Commemoration Mission. Accompanied by CoP CEO William Daroff - Public Profile (and his wife, Heidi Krizer Daroff) — as well as Director General Prof Yoram Weiss of the Hadassah Medical Organization, Suzanne Patt Benvenisti, head of Hadassah’s Offices in Israel, and Barbara “BG” Goldstein — Carol Ann brought new year’s greetings to recovering patients and dedicated staff at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem, and met with several longtime friends of Hadassah, including Malcolm Hoenlein, CoP executive vice chairman. Carol Ann also attended the dedication of new ORs at Hadassah Beit Shemesh. Earlier highlights this week were stops at the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including a sit-down meeting with the PM and officials from across the political spectrum; a stop at the Western Wall, and a panel discussion on “North American Philanthropy in Israel After 10/7,” which featured our own Suzie Patt Benvenisti.

It is outrageous to even consider nominating UN Secretary-General Guterres, UNRWA or the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for a Nobel Peace Prize. Guterres has yet to hold Hamas accountable for its weaponization of sexual violence or to even call Hamas what it is – a terrorist organization. UNRWA employees participated in and aided Hamas’ brutal attack and for years have funded textbooks that teach children to hate Jews. ICJ continues to maintain a false equivalence between Israel, a country defending itself and its citizens, and terrorists who attack and kill civilians. Neither Guterres, UNRWA nor ICJ has done anything to bring about the safe release of the hostages Hamas kidnapped over a year ago, including the nearly 100 still in captivity. Not one has taken steps to ensure the hostages were visited by humanitarian organizations. All three have failed to facilitate the peace process. Instead, their actions have emboldened the terrorists and moved the world further away from peace.
