This week Clerk of Courts Pavan V. Present day Hamilton County rests on the lands stewarded by the Shawnee and Miami, along with other affiliated Algonquian-, Siouan-, and Iroquoian-speaking tribes, before their forced removal. Today is #IndigenousPeoplesDay, an important day to acknowledge that in our county we live on stolen land. Indigenous people are still here and thriving—you can learn more about current initiatives from the Urban Native Collective: https://buff.ly/3LLhfD3

American Archives Month is celebrated every October to raise awareness of the importance of archives and archivists. Follow us throughout the month as we share some of our recent archive finds! For our first post about #ArchivesMonth, we want to give a huge shoutout to volunteer archivist Jim Dempsey. Jim is a historian and advocate for the preservation of historical records. Without his work through the years, we wouldn’t have rediscovered the treasure trove of records that were untouched for decades. Join us in thanking Jim for his service to the community!
