Director Of Campaign Development at myFace.org

I’ve been working for myFace for 6+ years now. It’s individuals like Naomi, pictured here in this bus ad, that have opened my eyes to what it’s like to live with a craniofacial difference. To understand the medical and psychological challenges they may face. And also to understand that they want to be treated like everyone else. It’s important to not only hear, but listen to what they say. I don’t have a craniofacial difference, nor have I had dozens of surgeries or experienced bullying that profoundly impacted my life. What I do know is that the more we educate ourselves, the more we talk to people who are willing to share their experiences, the more we can change our ingrained perceptions of what we think things should be. Thank you, Naomi Levinshtein, for being such an important advocate for the craniofacial community, for redefining beauty standards through your work as a makeup artist and photographer, and for educating people like me. And mostly for having the courage to stand up for what you believe in. You’ve got this! #MyFaceIsBeautiful #thisismyFace #craniofacial #facialdifferences #diversityandinclusion Thank you Jake Mickey and the team at JCDecaux North America, Inc., Steven Speliotis, Reiko Yoo, Rick Guidotti and Terry M. (Hapner-Hart Media Inc.) for bringing this campaign to life. And of course, Anderson Pleasants, Kei Otake, Anibel Bruce, David C. and Dina Zuckerberg !

Global Lead, Events & Communications, VALOR at S&P Global

Thank you to my wonderful colleagues Maureen Cuddy Christopher Morales Jacks Kernohan and Ryan McDay for coming together to support a cause that has been near and dear to my family for 20+ years, and a result, now near and dear to S&P Global. What an inspiring evening volunteering at myFace’s annual gala in NYC, celebrating facial differences and the incredible devotion of medical professionals pioneering integrative plastic surgery procedures for these children, and of course, the families who have remained steadfast in their resolve. In many cases, these children’s surgeries are deemed “elective,” and that’s where causes like myFace step in. Dina, you are a wonderful friend to my family, and we thank you for inspiring so many people through your personal story and philanthropic work. Last but not least, tonight’s Courage Award winner at the Gala was U.S. Naval officer David Cohen, who was born with a craniofacial disorder, and was told he would never be fit to serve in our military. And here he is today, a proud member of our most esteemed institution, in the hour of its country’s greatest need. All thanks to the pioneering work of Dr. Joseph G. McCarthy and the dedicated myFace team. I’m #spglobalproud to have brought this organization to the fore several years ago, and I look forward to us continuing to make an essential impact on future needs for myFace! #myface #spglobalproud #spglobalimpact #craniofacial #difference #inclusion #plasticsurgery #surgery #navy #veterans #resilience #craniofacialdisorder

    President & CEO, JCC Chicago #growinggoodkids #growinghope

JCC Chicago's Growing Hope documentary premiered to a full house at the Chicago History Museum on Sunday. The film opens with actor David Eigenberg, who narrates the story. Many know David from his role as Lt. Christopher Herrmann on Chicago Fire and it was fascinating to talk with David about his experience on the show and all that he has learned about the work of the CFD. And he shared with me this mantra - #Adapt, #Improvise, #Overcome - an unofficial slogan for the U.S. Marines and firefighters everywhere. Growing Hope is the J's programmatic response to historic levels of #antisemitism and hateful speech and actions. While #Holocaust education and related in-school curricula is not what the J has traditionally done, it is what the J needs to do now. We have adapted and improvised, and we are gaining ground. During the talk back after the screening, I shared with the audience that School District 300 in Algonquin had reached out about bringing Growing Hope to their students in all 27 of their schools. The next day, Brad Spradlin, a newer staff member, shared: "I grew up and graduated from D300....I remember there was always a HUGE lack of Holocaust education when I was growing up in this district and I can remember hearing many inappropriate/ignorant comments made towards the Holocaust or antisemitism that stemmed from the lack education on these topics. Reflecting on my time as a student and thinking back on the bullying I faced, my peers faced, and many others, it warms my heart and soul knowing that they are wanting to be part of the work we are doing." As the world changes, we must and will rise to meet the moment. There is both tremendous challenge and pride in this work, seeing it resonate and take hold in our communities gives us all the #hope in the world. #growinghope #growinggoodkids #Jewishcommunity #community #partnership #education
