About us
The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation is the nation's largest nonprofit treatment provider, with a legacy that began in 1949 and includes the 1982 founding of the Betty Ford Center. With 17 sites in California, Minnesota, Oregon, Illinois, New York, Florida, Massachusetts, Colorado and Washington, the Foundation offers prevention and recovery solutions nationwide and across the entire continuum of care for youth and adults. The Foundation includes: • the nation's largest recovery publishing house • a fully-accredited graduate school of addiction studies • a dedicated addiction research center • intensive educational programs for medical students and professionals • community and school-based prevention programs and services • unique family and children’s programs • an influential institute for recovery advocacy and policy Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation Our collective ability to meet the challenges of today and thrive in the future is directly connected to having a diverse workforce, an inclusive culture, a strong presence in diverse communities, and the provision of culturally responsive care. To that end, in early 2019, the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation embarked on a strategic and sustainable journey for change in procedures, decision-making processes and the allocation of resources. New outcomes research from our Butler Center for Research reveals that Hazelden Betty Ford’s comprehensive approach to care is highly effective, with 74% of patients reporting sobriety one year after starting treatment. These results surpass the 40-60% sobriety rates found in other studies. Even better: 88% of survey respondents rated their overall quality of life as good or better – nearly 20% higher than the national average. Hazelden Betty Ford CEO Joseph Lee M.D. emphasizes: "Treatment at Hazelden Betty Ford addresses all the complexities, all together, and is focused on empowering recovery that lasts. That's why I suspect our outcomes are strong, why our hope and passion for the families we serve is so strong, and why people come to us with the goal of thriving in recovery, not just surviving addiction." Hazelden Betty Ford is proud to partner with Addiction Alliance of Georgia’s John Martin, LCSW, MAC to discuss the importance of aligning Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with the Twelve Step Program. Breaking down the key aspects of addiction by brain structure, Martin will show attendees how the two therapies are implemented to improve maladaptive changes in the brain that occur from compulsive substance use.
