  • Please give a round of applause to Herminia Beetler, PCT, July's BEE Award winner! A patient said this about Herminia: “I was admitted to the hospital with severe bilateral Covid pneumonia. I have never felt so ill and sick. Covid pneumonia is frightening. One of the precautions, can’t see family, is lonely and isolating. Herminia is a breath of spring air. She is so attentive, kept me clean, helped me with what I could not do, cleaned the bed every day and always had cold fluids. She is a role model for her colleagues and deserves all the recognition that you can give her. I have been so well treated. Thank you so much.” Thank you, Herminia, for providing caring attention to this patient and for connecting with them in a vulnerable time! The BEE (Being Exceptional Everyday) Award was established so patients and former patients can recognize caregivers who go above-and-beyond to support our nurses and patients. • To help kick off the fundraising campaign for the March of Dimes at Publix, HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital recently hosted managers and staff from the local Publix stores to tour the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). NICU nurse manager Josyln Kiley, BSN, RN, CCRN, RN-BC, shared her passion for helping the tiniest patients in Oak Hill Hospital's Level 3 NICU while Brittany Rendon, March of Dimes (MOD) Executive Director of Market Impact, shared information about the need for the fundraising campaign. The MOD/Publix campaign runs through Sunday, August 25. The coordinated effort makes it easy for anyone to donate as they check out at the register. Last year's campaign raised nearly 6.4 million! For more information about Oak Hill Hospital's NICU, the only level 3 NICU in Hernando, Citrus and Pasco counties, visit: https://bit.ly/4dxz6Ji * NOTE: the baby in the photograph is a simulation model. The room photographed is one of the private NICU suites built to encourage parent-baby bonding and skin to skin contact for NICU infants.

  • This morning HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital's CEO Ken Wicker and cardiothoracic surgeon Bao-Thuy Hoang ("Dr. Bao") spent some time with Barbara Manuel's radio team at Wwjb 1450 Am to share the latest and greatest in cardiothoracic care. Dr. Bao shared that surgical options at Oak Hill Hospital rival those of larger city hospitals - all without having to leave the Hernando County community. In fact, the hospital offers the county's only complex structural heart program for diseases and conditions relating to the parts of the heart’s anatomy, including valves, chambers and walls. When these structures don’t work right, blood flow to the body is affected. When this happens, blood clots, heart failure, arrhythmia or sudden cardiac arrest may result. Fortunately, our team is here to help. “We are fortunate to have a strong group of physicians and a skilled Cath Lab team to support the needs of our community here in Hernando County,” says Ken Wicker, CEO. “With the addition of Dr Bao to our team, we also have the capability to surgically treat diseases of the lung, including cancer.” For more information about heart care and treatment options, including minimally invasive surgery and procedures at Oak Hill Hospital, visit: https://bit.ly/4dCN39a #heartsurgery #HCAFlorida

She epitomizes everything that a nurse (doctor, tech, etc.) should be and is the perfect example of an extraordinary nurse. Ann’s skill, compassion, care, patience, knowledge, kindness and so much more makes her the type of nurse deserving of the DAISY Award. When she enters the patient room, you know you will receive the best care and are safe in her care.” Thank you, Ann, for demonstrating excellent clinical care, delivered with compassion and kindness!
