  • As a part of HCA Healthcare, we're committed to investing in our nurses. This means investing in the heart of healthcare. With robust support, continuous education and innovative resources, we empower nurses to deliver exceptional care, ensuring every patient receives the highest quality treatment. This month, HCA Virginia launched Nurse Forward, an initiative that reflects our firm belief that a healthcare system is only as good as its nurses and care teams. We kicked off Nurse Forward with celebrations at several of our hospitals. We also held leadership development conferences at Northern Virginia Community College's medical education campus and LewisGale Medical Center. More than 130 clinical nurse coordinators from LewisGale Regional Health System, Dominion Hospital, Reston Hospital and StoneSprings Hospital Center attended. Together, we strive to build a culture that thrives on the power of unity, fostering a supportive network where every voice matters and every challenge is met as a team. #NurseForward #CareLikeFamily

We are thrilled to announce that 46 talented students have been awarded the 2024 Patricia Frist Memorial Scholarship, with a total of $135,750 in scholarships supporting the educational dreams of our HCA Virginia colleagues' dependents. This scholarship, established by the HCA Healthcare Foundation, is a tribute to the late Patricia Frist — a passionate philanthropist and wife of HCA Healthcare co-founder Dr. Thomas Frist Jr. We are proud to honor her legacy by empowering the next generation to pursue their educational goals. From Virginia Tech’s Mary Frances Bergeron, who’s studying biomedical engineering, to University of Virginia commerce major Schubin Chon, these scholarships are helping students turn their dreams into reality. We are incredibly proud of our scholarship recipients and excited to see how they will shape the future. Congratulations to Mary Frances, Schubin and all of the scholarship winners! 🎓 Learn more about the Patricia Frist Memorial Scholarship program and this year’s HCA Virginia recipients: https://lnkd.in/ehtXaQCh #HealthierTomorrows

  • It's our colleagues that show up for our patients, for our communities, and for each other that prove our greatest strength is our people. Yesterday, our colleagues volunteered their time with Bright Beginnings at Tuckahoe Family YMCA to support local families by helping them shop for free school supplies to ensure children are prepared to head back to school. Join us in recognizing our colleagues for their dedication to showing up when it matters most and wishing students, their families, and teachers a safe and healthy school year! #CareLikeFamily #WeShowUp #BackToSchool

  • As a part of HCA Healthcare, we are deeply committed to investing in the communities we serve and developing the next generation of healthcare leaders and professionals. That's why HCA Virginia is proud to partner with the City of Richmond, Virginia's Youth Engagement Services (YES) program to offer young individuals a unique opportunity to explore diverse career paths within the healthcare industry through structured internships at our hospitals, including Henrico, Parham & Retreat Doctors' Hospitals and CJW Medical Center. From hands-on experience in engineering to shadowing open-heart surgeons, these internships provide invaluable exposure to real-world healthcare settings. One of our YES interns, Chandler Holeman, said, "This is like the best experience I ever had." Through experiences like these, we help shape the future workforce, equipping them with the tools they need for a successful career. Watch our video: https://bit.ly/3ACAdJ2 #FutureOfHealthcare

  • Colleagues from HCA Virginia Health System and LewisGale Regional Health System presented the Compress and Shock Foundation with a $25,000 check to provide free CPR education and place lifesaving devices in underserved Virginia communities. The grant, awarded by HCA Healthcare Foundation's Healthier Tomorrow Fund, will support free and equitable access to CPR and defibrillator education and facilitate the placement of 12 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in Central, Northern and Southwest Virginia. “We are excited to partner with HCA Virginia,” said Dr. Jack Perkins, founder and executive director of the Compress and Shock Foundation. “These funds will help us procure additional AEDs with a specific dedication to those communities most adversely affected by cardiac arrest due to race, ethnicity, primary language or access to healthcare education.” Read more about the potential impact of this donation and partnership: https://bit.ly/3ArfiZq #HealthierTomorrows #ImproveMoreLives

  • We would like to acknowledge Dr. Joseph Greene, a weight loss surgeon and medical director of Bariatric Surgery at Reston Hospital, part of HCA Virginia Health System, for his participation in an important visit to Capitol Hill earlier this month! On July 12, Dr. Greene, serving as the state access to care rep (STAR) from American Society For Metabolic And Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Virginia, joined other advocates for a Capitol Hill visit geared toward presenting information to key legislative offices about the recent approval of the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (TROA, H.R. 4818) by the House Ways and Means Committee. Also joining the group that day was Veronica Wilson, a patient of Dr. Greene’s who shared her lived experience with congressional staff about her use of both surgery and pharmacotherapy to address her obesity. Dr. Greene and Ms. Wilson were included in a group of advocates who met with six different congressional offices, including Senate Finance Committee members John Barrasso (R-WY), Bob Casey (D-PA) and Mark Warner (D-VA). Their efforts in sharing their insights and experience on the benefits of these treatments are part of HCA Healthcare's continued efforts to advocate for patient care and access. We appreciate their work! #FutureOfHealthcare #HealthierTomorrows
