🤔 We all deal with conflict, but how can we handle it effectively and with empathy? That's what our employees took on in "The Restorative Practices Training in Conflict, Communication and Culture" with Advoz: Mediation & Restorative Practices. ADVOZ led exercises on restorative skills and explained how to apply trauma-informed principles to the work we do in our communities. #affordablehousing #professionaldevelopment #mediation #conflict

Our partners at HDC MidAtlantic are helping to meet important City housing goals of 2,500 new residential units by 2030. Meeting with neighbors on Lancaster’s west side, the leadership at HDC shared proposed plans for an affordable housing project in a portion of the former Delp Wing of the St. Joseph’s Hospital property on College Avenue. These much-needed residential units are part of the goals detailed in the Building On Strength Economic Development Plan. The Building On Strength Plan, managed by the Lancaster City Alliance, calls for 2,500 new residential units to be built in the City by 2030. The HDC project represents almost 50 affordable apartments, including thirteen set aside for those experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. Congratulations to the team at HDC for their vision and expertise in making this important project a reality and for their role and mission in meeting this critical need for affordable housing. "Residents of the neighborhood around the former St. Joseph’s Hospital on Lancaster’s west side got a first look Thursday evening at HDC MidAtlantic’s plans to redevelop the hospital’s “Delp Wing” into affordable housing. What they were seeing is an initial concept, not a final product, HDC Executive Director Dana Hanchin cautioned. The project will be subject to multiple rounds of refinement and revision, she said, adding that HDC welcomes community input as it unfolds. “This is an iterative process,” she said. Joining Hanchin and other HDC team members were project architect Gary Weaver of Tippetts Weaver and Christina Duncan, executive director of Milagro House, which will own and manage one of the Delp Wing’s three residential floors. They presented to a standing-room-only audience of more than 50 people who crowded into The Sanctuary at West Art, a block away from the project site." ✴️ 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 by Tim Stuhldreher at https://bit.ly/3BeOoEI

🗳️ Happy #NationalVoterRegistrationDay! Our Resident Service Coordinators and Community Managers have been busy sharing voter information throughout our communities. And our community partners Lancaster Votes and the League of Women Voters are providing programs and #voterregistration information to support residents as they get ready to #vote! HDC is also part of the Our Homes Our Votes initiative sponsored by the National Low Income Housing Coalition. The #NLIHC reminds us that "Affordable homes are built with ballots every bit as much as they are built with bricks and drywall."

Exciting Progress in Downtown Lancaster City! Join us for a quick look at our ongoing project with HDC MidAtlantic, as we reflect on the last 5 months on site. We've been hard at work laying the groundwork to go vertical, tackling challenges like jackhammering rocks, pumping concrete into those tight spaces, stacking CMU blocks, and installing lots of much-needed structural steel. Throughout the project we've hit some major milestones, most notably (within our team) our Site Superintendent Dave Dreer celebrated 31 years with Benchmark! Dave's experience has been invaluable, sharing his expertise (and humor) with Site Project Manager Andrew Figlio and Assistant Project Manager Luis E. Justo, CACM. Thanks to our team of subcontractors for moving us along, and thank you to our partners at Tippetts/Weaver Architects, Site Design Concepts, Inc., Baker, Ingram & Associates, and MDS Engineering #BuilttoAchieve #ConstructionUpdate #Construction #LancasterCity
