Let's Protect and Connect with the 'Treasure of the Atlantic' Our friend Jessica Howell - Edwards, Executive Director of Wild Cumberland, wrote a guest column published in the SaportaReport on the ecological connections between Cumberland Island, Georgia's largest coastal barrier island, and the Blake Plateau, an area 80-200 miles off the shores of the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida, and home to the world's largest deep sea coral habitat. Jessica calls for Senators Ossoff and Warnock (Office of U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff) to publicly support permanent protections for parts of this incredibly important ecosystem. We hope you'll join us in this call for conservation! https://lnkd.in/e_Zqwr8T

We are a national network of ocean lovers dedicated to protecting our ocean, coasts, and Great Lakes.
About us
Our Mission We are a national network of ocean lovers – a free-to-join coalition of the willing - dedicated to preventing the exploitation, destruction, and neglect of our ocean, coasts, and Great Lakes. Who We Are We are change makers guided by the principle that we are stronger and more influential together. By collaborating as an inclusive and vocal ocean community, we ensure that conservation policies in the United States are informed by and reflective of the people, regions, and wildlife that they are designed to serve – you. All too often when it comes to building meaningful relationships with members of Congress and other decision makers, people feel lost and do not know where to begin. It is our job to work with our members in realizing their conservation goals and serve as their guide along the path toward achieving them. Come join our community of grassroots groups. If you’re interested in participating in meetings on Capitol Hill, we’re here to help. Join us to sharpen your advocacy skills by attending our biannual ocean and coastal advocacy trainings. Connect with us and our supportive community of conservation champions to gain a deeper understanding of policy issues, how to influence them, and beyond. We welcome you to join us on our mission to safeguard our blue planet.

It's #OceanDay at #COP16Colombia! 🌊 The ocean is the world's largest ecosystem; it regulates our climate and sustains all life on Earth—and yet we know and understand very little about it. Advancing transformative ocean science is critical to protecting and restoring our ocean and the benefits it brings us. Join us to put ocean science at the heart of global discussions #ForNature. We are organising or participating in several events on 27 and 28 October with UNESCO Ocean, UN Environment Programme, International Seabed Authority and other partners to discuss how the #OceanDecade supports the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework and transformative ocean approaches, and to showcase the benefits of sustainable ocean plans for marine biodiversity. 👉 More info and livestream: https://ow.ly/4F1F50TTi2h

A great day indeed! It is people like Sarah Porter who help to ensure that Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary continues to thrive in an ever changing ocean environment by engaging with local communities and stakeholders across the region. Cheers!
TODAY is National Marine Sanctuary Day, a day to celebrate and protect our ocean and Great Lakes. I'm thrilled to have joined the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, as the Chapter Director for Gray's Reef, off the coast of Savannah, GA. For all who know me (or have witnessed me spend hours exploring a tidepool) - this is a cause deeply close to my heart! There are seventeen marine sanctuaries across the US, from Massachusetts to American Samoa and from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico -- rich with biodiversity, history, cultural heritage, recreational opportunities and natural beauty. Each sanctuary is unique - from the species that live there, the habitats it includes, the communities that enjoy it, and the stories it holds. #marineconservation #oceanconservation #marinesanctuary #marinesanctuaries #graysreef #nationalmarinesanctuaries
