Teens in our CARE vocational program used Caffeine Connection to practice taking orders, making drinks, and handling payments! CARE Clubs help foster confidence and community for the kids in our programs. Thank you to Pratt Industries for welcoming us into their organization and helping our kids gain valuable working experience!
We were delighted to welcome teens from the Heartspring Caffeine Connection Program, who set up a coffee stand in our office at our Park City, KS corrugator. This incredible program helps teens with neurodevelopmental disorders learn valuable job skills, from making drinks to handling orders. During their visit, they served 37 of our employees! Thank you, Heartspring, for this wonderful experience and for empowering these young individuals with practical skills. ☕ Learn more about Heartspring: https://lnkd.in/gPepTfNE

At Heartspring, we host graduation ceremonies all year long! The students in our Therapeutic Residential and Day School graduate when they complete their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and individualized behavioral intervention plans or age out of pediatric care. It’s so important that we celebrate students’ milestones and accomplishments. It’s incredibly special to see families celebrate their students and all they’ve accomplished at Heartspring to lead more independent lives.

Heartspring’s CARE Summer Vocational Training Program spent their summer exploring career paths at the Wichita Art Museum, completing mock interviews at the @workforce-alliance-of-south-central-kansas, volunteering in the community, and learning digital skills. These skills and experiences help our CARE Club kids practice interacting with community members and learn valuable skills to gain employment. Curious about how your business or organization can be involved? Email CARE@heartspring.org, or call 316-634-8710.

Our residential school SLPs held a training session for the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association a few weeks ago! This opportunity allowed our staff to share their knowledge with other SLPs and provide valuable training for fellow SLPs, which counts toward continuing education requirements to maintain their credentials. KSHA is a non-profit professional organization comprised of licensed and future professionals in speech, language, and hearing. Its purpose is to provide high-quality, innovative professional development, increase community awareness of the field, and advocate for the professions and individuals with communication disorders.

Even though most schools are getting ready to start the 2024-2025 school year, our Therapeutic Residential and Day School is year-round—so are graduations! Celebration is one of Heartspring's core values. It's a joy to host graduation ceremonies for our students to commemorate their achievements with their families. This summer, several young men graduated from Heartspring, and we asked their parents to share their experiences. We will have a new video to share every week over four weeks, so stay tuned to hear these families' stories.
