A huge thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate 10 years of the Wichita Workforce Center at New Leaf Plaza, and to welcome our partnership with Goodwill Industries of Kansas. We look forward to combining resources to continue to create significant community impact for both employers and job seekers in South Central Kansas. The event featured remarks from Keith Lawing, President & CEO of the Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas; Mayor Lily Wu, Shelly Thompson, State Operations Director, Kansas Department of Commerce; Sedgwick County Commissioner Jim Howell; and Laura Ritterbush, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Kansas. The presentation was followed by Career Exploration Virtual Reality demonstrations, tours of the Workforce Center – and, most importantly, cake!

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month! If you have employees that are missing work due to an injury or illness, #RETAINWORKS can help. If you are struggling to hire the perfect candidate for that hard-to-fill role, RETAINWORKS can help with that too. While the employment rate for individuals with disabilities has risen almost 20% in the last four years, there is still a significant employment gap between workers with disabilities and those without. So if you find yourself in this situation - #RETAINWORKS is a great resource for you and your employees. Check out our website at www.retainworks.org to see what we can offer.
