Empowering families in developing countries through high-capacity local leaders to end extreme poverty
About us
Help One Now empowers families in developing countries through high-capacity local leaders with proven solutions to end extreme poverty. In 2007, our CEO and Founder, Chris Marlow, met a starving young child living in an abandoned gas station in Zimbabwe. That encounter compelled him to start Help One Now and dedicate his life to seeking justice by empowering leaders and organizing a wide table of people to do good together. Help One Now’s story began with caring for children. However, after years of research and conversations with brilliant local leaders, our model shifted to a more holistic approach and focus on the entire family unit. In the developing communities we serve, empowering families through education and entrepreneurship has proven to be the most effective course for long-term change, creating a hand up to build a better future for themselves and end the cycle of poverty. Help One Now partners with high-capacity local leaders who are already working effectively in their respective communities in 8 countries around the world. These leaders are friends and partners who share our mission to end extreme poverty. They are our greatest resource, and without them, sustainable change is impossible. We truly believe our greatest gift is one another, and that together we can use our gifts, talents, passions, and resources to empower families and end extreme poverty forever.

We really enjoyed having Pastor John and Orpah stateside for almost two weeks! One of the highlights of our time together was a lunch for Business Leaders in St. Louis, MO. The small, but mighty group raised over $5,000 for our education initiatives in Zimbabwe. Incredible!
Had the most amazing lunch at Undivided Experience Center yesterday to talk about all the good things going on in my very favorite place, Zimbabwe. Special thanks to Gary Baker and Deanna McClintock for creating such a special experience for us. It was so fun getting introduce and reintroduce Help One Now to St. Louis Business Leaders.

In all honesty, I thought I was done with “mission trips.” In the past, I’ve gone overseas and seen extreme poverty and reliance on the West. So much so that I became jaded because I didn’t think it was working or sustainable. The pandemic made that feeling even stronger. So fun hosting Chris Marlow from Help One Now at Bandwidth Inc.! Chris shared insights from his book, “Doing Good Is Simple.” We spoke about his passion for seeking justice, making a difference right where you are, and the importance of margins in your life. We discussed growing in Body, Mind & Spirit and he encouraged us to invest in ourselves if we want to invest in others. (Check out this one minute clip) #peoplefirst #culture #givingback

Two weeks ago, we sent a small team down to visit La Vega, Dominican Republic alongside our friends at Help One Now. The work that Help One Now and their counterparts are doing is so evident throughout all aspects of the La Vega community and it was inspiring to see how that work has flourished over the past 20 years. We are excited and eager to learn more about how we as a company can support and highlight the efforts they are doing in the Dominican Republic and across the world.
