Bret Slife’s Mission Trip: Impacting Lives Beyond His Duties at Henderson. Our incredible shop associate, Bret, just returned from a life-changing mission trip in Malawi, Africa where he went beyond his craft to help transform communities. He went with the organization Children Relief International (CRI) focused on building homes and distributing food to underserved communities. During the trip, Bret and his team audited homes, helped build new ones, distributed food to villages, and shared stories with the families. While playing games with the kids and talking to families, Bret was struck by how much we take for granted here in the U.S. He shared how only 10% of the kids had shoes, walking barefoot over rocks and dirt daily. He also spoke about the struggles with healthcare—without cash in hand, medical care is almost impossible for them. But in the midst of their challenges, the people are not gloomy—they’re gracious, filled with hope, and deeply resilient. Bret’s team made a significant impact by ensuring kids and families knew where their next meal was coming from, with hopes to provide even more food and help in the future.
