On a mission to ensure all children have a safe, stable homes
About us
Henrico CASA promotes safe, healthy homes for every child in Henrico County, especially those vulnerable from abuse and neglect. #ChangeaChildsStory We train and supervise volunteers who help our county's most vulnerable children thrive in safe, loving homes. These volunteers are called Court Appointed Special Advocates, aka CASAs, because they are appointed by judges serving in the Henrico County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court to speak up for the best interests of children experiencing possible abuse and/or neglect. CASA volunteers build a relationship with the child, gather information, and collaborate with professionals in order to make a recommendation to the court. As our judges often note, these recommendations are vital to making the best decisions possible on behalf of vulnerable children. CASA volunteers provide "unbiased reporting of the circumstances to assist the court with making a better informed decision." - Judge, Henrico Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court

No better mustaches than those being grown by Henrico County firefighters in support of our Mustaches for Kids campaign! The official growing season begins November 6, but William Boger helped us get a head start with last night's 'Henrico Heroes' kick-off party.

Anytime we participate in an event, we brainstorm the right messaging… something that will resonate deeply with our supporters, but also fit the feel of the event. For yesterday’s sport themed RE Expo hosted by the Richmond Association of REALTORS®, we landed on “Safe at Home.” If you’re a baseball fan, you’ve heard that phrase a million times — it’s the moment when a player makes it back to home plate, safe and sound. But for Henrico CASA, this simple phrase carries a much bigger meaning.

Every year, we look forward to reviewing the Kids Count Data Book published by the Annie E. Casey Foundation. It turns an array of data points into a full picture of children's well-being state by state. Virginia's children rank 16th across the nation.... which means there is more work to be done!
