James Lawson High School was featured in October’s issue titled "The Innovation Issue" of Architectural Record! The article highlights the public schools' legacy of its namesake activist and reads, “Lawson’s spirit lives on through several design moments at the new school, including prominently positioned graphics and quotes spread throughout three levels. Just as essential as Lawson’s guiding ethos of acceptance is the school’s embrace of place.” We are deeply honored by this feature and excited about the positive impact James Lawson High School will have on the Nashville community.

A fantastic few days over in #Leiden and #Rotterdam with Streetlife BV Truly inspiring places with lots of exciting projects! However, it was the celebrated relationship between people, water and nature that really stood out. 💦 🌳 🙋♀️ There were some great presentations and conversations between #landscapearchitects across the globe 🌏 that was an important reminder that we all face the same challenges, but all have our own unique approach to them in varying ways. We must focus on #nature and climate resilience but we can’t forget to have fun along the way and create memorable places! The Architect's Newspaper recently featured GP’s latest renderings for what will become Nashville’s tallest tower: Paramount. Designed by GP and developed by Giarratana LLC, the building is located at 1010 Church Street downtown. The tower will stand at 60 stories and 750 feet tall upon completion, surpassing the 617-foot-tall AT&T Building, the city’s current tallest. The new tower is composed of 360 apartments, 140 condominiums, associated amenities, and a 517-space parking garage. The project also includes a 60,000-square-foot state-of-the-art addition to the neighboring Downtown The Y (YMCA). Paramount is the third building along Church Street by the same architect-developer team, with the Alcove building at 900 Church opening last summer and the Prime building at 801 Church opening later this year. The three multifamily residential buildings sit across from the 17-acre Amazon-anchored Nashville Yards development, currently under construction. EOA was honored to receive an AIA Tennessee Merit Award for the Smyrna Ready Mix Corporate Headquarters during AIA Tennessee's annual Design Awards program. The program celebrates design excellence in architecture across the entire state. Jurors commented that "the entire building is a great showcase of what concrete can do. The way the architect treated the concrete is very light and sculptural. It feels plastic and malleable. In addition to the board formed concrete the jury also appreciated the glass detailing and how the building evokes the idea of a quarry by building the inverse of a quarry." Fourteen built projects were unanimously chosen to be recognized from a group of 163 submittals, all of which received thoughtful consideration. The jurors noted the diverse range of work and elegant solutions to challenges presented. “The jury was impressed by the quality and variety of architectural practice demonstrated by the submission of executed projects realized across the state of Tennessee”.
