The concept of World Homeless Day emerged from online discussions between people working to respond to homelessness in various parts of the world. The inaugural World Homeless Day was marked on October 10th, 2010. Since its founding, this day has been observed on every continent (except Antarctica) and in over 100 countries. In recognition of World Homeless Day, we recognize that homelessness is more than just a lack of shelter. It's a complex issue tied to a web of circumstances: job loss, mental health challenges, domestic violence, natural disasters, rising housing costs, and the breakdown of support systems. Each individual’s story is unique, yet the impact is universal—no one should be left without a safe place to call home. At HomeAid, we’re committed to breaking down these barriers. Through our housing, community engagement, and educational initiatives, we help people rebuild their lives and restore hope. For over 35 years, HomeAid has partnered with building industry professionals to create dignified, safe spaces for those at risk of or experiencing homelessness—providing more than just shelter, but a foundation for a brighter future. Our mission is clear: to end homelessness by addressing its root causes and empowering individuals with the tools and resources they need to thrive.
