Building Homes, Rebuilding Lives
About us
Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) is a publicly funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for the most severely injured Veterans Post - 9/11. Most of these Veterans have sustained injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country, and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives. Since its inception in 2004, nearly 90 cents out of every dollar spent has gone directly to our program services for Veterans. HFOT builds these homes where the Veteran chooses to live, and continues its relationship with the Veterans after home delivery to assist them with rebuilding their lives. HFOT builds homes as a departure point for these Veterans to rebuild their lives, and once again become highly productive members of society. Despite their life-altering injuries, many of our Veterans have embarked on new careers, completed their college degrees, or started families. Empowered by the freedom a mortgage-free and specially adapted home brings, these Veterans can now focus on their recovery and returning to their life’s work of serving others. Many have embraced their roles as motivational speakers, sharing their messages of persevering through tragedy with groups and classrooms around the country; others take to a national platform to promote awareness of veteran suicide, homelessness and PTSD. Homes For Our Troops continues to be a top-rated military charity by Charity Navigator, Charity Watch and Guidestar, and is accredited by the Better Business Bureau. Along with celebrating our 20th anniversary, Homes For Our Troops will hand over the keys to our 400th specially adapted custom home in September! Currently under construction, the home will be donated to Marine LCpl Alberto Flores Jr. and his family in New Braunfels, Texas. LCpl Flores was severely injured while serving in Iraq, resulting in the amputation of his right leg above the knee. Silver National Partner Texas Roadhouse, National Partner Bubba's 33, and their affiliates Jaggers & The TXRH Support Center are working together to generously fund our 400th home. We appreciate their ongoing dedication and commitment to our nation's most severely injured post-9/11 Veterans. Learn more about Alberto and RSVP for his events at: https://lnkd.in/eJn3dHrc

It's FUNdraising Friday! This week's special shout-out goes out to HFOT Veteran Home Recipient Marine Cpl Jon Schumacher! On July 20th, Jon Schumacher held his annual "Cpl Jon Schumacher Golf Tournament" in Boring, OR, at the MT. View Golf Course! Jon's annual tournament allows him to give back to all the organizations that helped him during his recovery. With this year being his ten-year anniversary in his HFOT home, Jon chose to pay it forward to HFOT by raising $30,000 for our mission! Thank you, Jon, for your support and helping us continue our mission of Building Homes and Rebuilding Lives for severely injured Veterans! To learn more about Marine Cpl Jon Schumacher and his story, visit https://lnkd.in/eQPmnfrG. If you are interested in fundraising on our behalf, please reach out to the Independent Fundraising team at ifundraising@hfotusa.org! #FUNdraisingFriday
