It is with great sadness that I share the passing of Chino XL. Chino XL came as a guest of Immortal Technique to one of our Homies Empowerment Program/Adelante dinners. He was kind with his time. We didn't highlight them, we highlighted our youth, and he listened. He got to turn 50 in April and is now an ancestor. Chino was a lyrical wordsmith of the highest caliber. Navigator: We are looking for someone who has experience with high school students to be like a mentor and a driver called a navigator. 2. Teaching Asst : We are looking for a teaching assistant with high school experience. 3. Driver: We are looking for a driver, positive adult, who can pick up students in the morning and drop them off after school, 5 days per week. It is 300 folks donating $50 per month for 1 year to raise the last $180k needed for the Freedom Schools year 1 budget. The FREEdom School is a brand new Independent high school that launched in Oakland, California on September 11th 2023. We are looking for folks that are really good at landscaping and that might be able to help us to set up a really wonderful outdoor space for our students, we wish we had all the funds in the world but as an independent school, that is not government-funded, we don't have it like that. If anybody's in a position where they can donate time to redo this space, that would be amazing. We need support in leveling the floor, trimming everything, getting outdoor furniture and creating a beautiful and inviting outdoor Vibe for our students. Please let us know if you can help

We are looking for a senior Teaching Assistant that balances firmness with love and academic support and a Navigator ( driver/counselor) who drives students to all of their classes and sticks around to support students in a social emotional way. Both positions would work with 10 students. Positions are PT, 22 hours per week, M-F, 9:30-3:30, $30 per hr. If you are the one or you know the one please send them this information.
