HOPCo President & Chief Transformation Officer Dr. Wael Barsoum was recently invited to be the keynote speaker at his alma mater, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, where he delivered an inspiring speech to medical students during Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine’s annual White Coat Ceremony. This ceremony is a tradition where students receive their white coats for the first time as they get ready to enter medical school and their journey into the medical profession.   In his speech to these future doctors Dr. Barsoum said, “Care about your patients and make sure that your patients have that focus and that time and that they never feel like they are an annoyance for you that day. Healthcare Outcomes Performance Company (HOPCo) is proud to announce that Elizabeth Turcotte MSN, RN-ONC, FNAON, Vice President of Health System Integration, has been inducted as a National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON) 2024 Fellow. Turcotte has worked at HOPCo, the national leader in musculoskeletal physician practice management and value-based care solutions, since 2022 and was hired on as Associate Vice President of Service Line Transformation with a focus on creating and growing orthopedic programs to enhance patient outcomes. In July of this year, she was recently promoted to her current role of Vice President of Health System Integration, where she leads a team of consultants and analysts to help improve HOPCo’s performance and quality in specialty programs including orthopedics, spine, and trauma. A current resident of Auburn, ME, Turcotte has been a volunteer member of NAON since 2010 while she was a System Director of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the Orthopaedic Institute of Central Maine in Lewiston. She decided to become a part of NAON at that time to help with her professional growth and leadership skills. Founded in 1980, NAON is a nonprofit volunteer organization that enhances the lives and careers of orthopedic nurses and promotes the highest standards of nursing by educating its practitioners, promoting research, and encouraging effective communication between orthopedic nurses and other groups with similar interests. According to NAON, becoming a Fellow “demonstrates commitment to the orthopaedic nursing profession beyond the normal role requirement and to the highest standards of practice.” NAON inducts Fellows based on their leadership in orthopedic nursing, and their contributions to the specialty beyond their work environment, and they must also achieve success in the field through academic accomplishments, mentorship, advocacy, and volunteer service.
