On August 23, 2023, a tragic shooting at Cook's Corner in Trabuco Canyon claimed the lives of three people and left six others injured. The shooting, which began as a domestic dispute, quickly escalated into a random attack, impacting the tight-knit community gathered at this historic biker bar. We remember and honor those who were taken from us: Tonya Clark, John Leehey, and Glen Sprowl Jr. Their lives were filled with promise and love, and they leave behind family, friends, and a community that will deeply miss them. This tragedy reminds us of the urgent need to address gun violence and domestic disputes that can lead to such devastating outcomes. Did you know that nearly half of California adults have experienced intimate partner violence (IPV) at some point in their lives? 🌟 The CalVEX 2023 Survey sheds light on the harsh realities faced by many and what we can do to help. Diverse Experiences: -54% of women and a startling 76% of non-binary individuals report experiencing IPV, compared to 38% of men. -Transgender individuals face even higher rates, with 83% reporting IPV experiences. Understanding these findings helps us advocate for change.
