About us
HopePHL (pronounced Hopeful) is a newly formed social service organization for families, youth, and young children, experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Philadelphia. HopePHL was formed from two separate, but well known, social service organizations, People’s Emergency Center (PEC), and Youth Service, Inc (YSI), with 150 years of combined service experience. We provide a suite of programs, including: housing, advocacy and trauma-responsive social services that promote equity, resilience, autonomy and well-being, so people who need our services can achieve their goals, whether it’s a new home, a first job, enrolling in school, finding childcare, etc. Learn More at https://bit.ly/HopePHLInfo

Family struggles can leave children feeling helpless. That’s why HopePHL is committed to providing youth-focused housing and services. When Jacob (name changed for privacy), a father of three, faced eviction, we extended his hotel stay and secured shelter for his children. HopePHL prioritizes creating safe environments so kids can continue their education and enjoy their childhood, even in tough times. Learn more about the YES shelter: https://lnkd.in/d_ZnUv84.

The new school year is underway, and we want to remind you of the impact of donating to HopePHL for youth facing homelessness in Philadelphia. At HopePHL, we believe in the power of community and support. Katerina (name changed for privacy), a single mother of five, faced the daunting challenge of finding safe housing after toxic mold forced her from her home. Thanks to our Thrive program, she secured a safe, spacious home, providing her family the stability they deserve. Together, we bridge gaps and create pathways to brighter futures. Freddie's (name changed for privacy) journey through our ARISE program is a testament to the power of support and determination. As one of our first residents, Freddie embraced every opportunity, securing his apartment and becoming a cherished community member. He continues to stay connected with HopePHL, showing how caring mentors can make a lasting impact on young adults aging out of foster care. Last week, the HopePHL Development & External Affairs team gathered for our annual two-day retreat! Thank you Jacqueline Flynn, our Vice President of Resource & Business Development, and to the staff of The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University for hosting our retreat. We dove deep into strategy, brainstormed exciting new projects, and engaged with volunteer speakers from Vanguard, Aramark, and Comcast (thank you Jessie Heckman, Shenelle Brooks, SHRM- CP, and Maletta Vance, Ed.D., who led workshops on everything from innovation and time management to building your personal brand and achieving work-life balance. But we didn’t just focus on work—we also took time to enjoy the exhibits and have some fun together. Moments like these remind us how essential fun is in building strong, effective teams. Shared experiences and laughter strengthen our bonds and fuel our collective passion and creativity. Here’s to another year of making an impact! 🌟💼🧠 #TeamBuilding #Innovation #WorkLifeBalance #HopePHL
