🌍💧 This #WorldWaterDay, we’re spotlighting CSU Spur’s HYDRO building and Backyard—where innovative and collaborative design between our Landscape Architecture and Architecture teams transforms rainwater into a valuable resource. At HYDRO, a portion of the roof runoff is collected in a storage tank and used to irrigate Backyard plants, reducing reliance on potable water. Meanwhile, engineered bioswales throughout the site naturally filter stormwater, removing pollutants before it infiltrates the ground. In collaboration with the Mile High Flood District and City and County of Denver, experimental plots in Hyrdo's Backyard mimic streetside planters, collecting real-time data on water quality, flow rates, and plant health—advancing the future of sustainable stormwater management. A big thank you to all of the researchers who continually monitor the data to determine performance of these integrated stormwater features! This project is a testament to how thoughtful design can protect and preserve our most precious resource—water. #SustainableDesign #landcapearchitecture Learn more about the landscape architecture ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ehJ7hZV9 Learn more about the living laboratory ➡️ https://lnkd.in/erFAdKTc
