We celebrate the opening of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Berkeley Lab’s Biological and Environmental Program Integration Center (BioEPIC). Overlooking the San Francisco Bay and managed by University of California, Berkeley, BioEPIC unites 200 scientists to study microbial communities and their impact on Earth's climate. The facility features advanced tools, unique research environments and a rooftop greenhouse for large-scale plant experiments. It exceeds California's energy efficiency standards by 48%, supporting Berkeley Lab's sustainability goals.
