Today is #HorizonsGivingDay! Each spring, the Horizons community comes together to support educational equity. At Horizons Greater Philadelphia, the support we receive today is critical to the joyful experiences of the students this summer. Our goal is to raise $100,000 between now and the end of May, which will support our existing programs and help bolster our efforts in bringing Horizons to more students throughout the Philly region. Will you join us by making a gift? We hope you will also share Horizons with your network to help hashtag #expandhorizons in Philadelphia. https://lnkd.in/eGqyjVzR

Horizons provides out-of-school-time learning programs proven to close the opportunity gap for children
About us
Horizons Greater Philadelphia is a transformational, community-centered education program proven to close the opportunity gap. Students attend a tuition-free, intensive, 6-week summer program on the campus of a Philadelphia area independent school, college, university, or nonprofit institution, and receive additional support throughout the year. In small classes led by professional teachers, students dive into a rich curriculum with a focus on literacy, STEAM, and enrichment. Swimming and other confidence-boosting activities break down barriers to success and expose children to new opportunities. Students join Horizons Greater Philadelphia the summer after Kindergarten and return to the program each year through at least 8th grade, building lasting relationships with their teachers and peers, and developing life skills essential for success. Existing Philadelphia sites are: Horizons at The Episcopal Academy and Horizons at Greene Street Friends.

We are incredibly grateful for BLBB Charitable's support of our sites in Philadelphia!
We love the Horizons National program and so proud to support some local sites, including the amazing program at Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School. This summer enrichment program for K-8th is not only helping to close the achievement gap/help with summer slide for young learners in their Tioga/Nicetown neighborhood, but its also fun!

As of August 4, our four Horizons programs officially concluded for the summer. Read our August newsletter below to see the joy and love of learning that were cultivated in each student over the last six weeks. Students' days were filled with reading, math, STEM classes, field trips, hikes, swim lessons, and opportunities to discover new passions, have fun, and grow as young scholars. We are already excited for next summer and are eager to see their success in the school year ahead! https://lnkd.in/eKMePs2u
