Today, Tal Shnall joins us to share how to accelerate your career in hospitality through learning and personal growth: https://lnkd.in/gYjRv6hN "There's an illusion that by just working or going through the motions, you'll move forward." Tal and I covered so much in our conversation today, including: • His story of rising through the ranks from hotel operations to leadership • How he invested in himself by reading books and learning from mentors. • How his experience as a John Maxwell coach shaped his approach to leadership and growth. • The components of the learning and development program he oversees at The Joule and how he structures it for employees. • Where he sees the hospitality industry going in the next ten years • How the skills learned in hospitality, such as emotional intelligence and relationship building, can be applied to your personal life as well (this is powerful!) • His #1 recommended resource for personal and professional growth This is one you won't want to miss: 🎧 Listen to the Hospitality Daily Podcast on Spotify or Apple Podcasts ➕ Follow Hospitality Daily here for more stories like this 📥 Get my daily email with stories like this at HospitalityDaily.com

"The people who are making a difference, the people who are advancing in their careers are investing in themselves." "If you want it, you find a way. If you don't, you find an excuse." OK 1st I have to admit I had to move this from a comment to a repost because I got to long winded and maxed the word count for a comment. so make sure you listen to The Hospitality Daily podcast by Josiah Mackenzie before ypu read my post. Josiah, I loved the solo format. You have a very unique opportunity to see hospitality in its broad brush. You see so many varieties of what hospitality is from urban boutique hotels to mega resorts in remote locations and everything in between. I also appreciate the question you have raised as it is actually a wonderful introspective place we all need to go on occasion. If only to remind ourselves why we do what we do. For me I love hotels as a job, a passion (some might say obsession), a get away, a way to observe people and a way to connect. I personally gain energy from being with and engaging with others. Because of this I really don't have a line between my personal life and my business life, it all mushes together. I will change the type of hotel depending on my needs or the mood. For example I took a vacation last week and went to a large resort property in the Grenadines, completly polar opposite from our hotels at Staypineapple, however I still found myself critiquing the facility and service. I went out of my way to talk to the manager about my observation as I would hope any of my colleagues or friends would do for me. However... I do think finding your happy place, where you feel grounded and at home is equally important. that place for me is the pasture at my home with my dogs running around playing and barking. I don't think people should follow my path but I personally just don't recharge by having a work/life balance. I have a work/life life. I Love hospitality at work and a rest! I don't turn it off.
